Live fairly close and considering coming to ski here? Read this. I started coming here years ago before it was open to the public since I have family in the military and came as a guest. Once it was opened to the public, I started to come more often. Unfortunately the weather hasn't cooperated in the past couple of years and I understand the conditions haven't been great (I wasn't able to come the past 2 years). This isn't a big ski area with lots of resources, so you should expect that the conditions on the mountain will mirror the weather conditions. If it's cold enough for long enough, even without much snowfall they can make snow, but if the weather is all over the place and the snow melts and refreezes, they're going to struggle. Some highlights after years and many times skiing here: -This mountain, while small, is actually fun for most all skiing abilities, particularly when there's enough snow for the 2 main trails to be open. It's steep enough that you can get up some good speed and really cruise. If you are a true beginner then it probably isn't ideal, since the bunny slope isn't the easiest to get up (rope tow) and the main trails are likely a bit intimidating for real beginners. But for anyone else it's a fun little mountain. I'm an expert skier and have skied hundreds of times at lots of mountains, and still enjoy skiing here. -The lift lines are almost always very short. -Prices are cheaper than you'll find anywhere. -Night skiing! Lots of fun. -The lodge is cozy and warm and enjoyable to hang out in. -Nice people working here. -Parking is close and it's easy to walk over to the slope. -A few years ago it snowed enough we were actually able to do a little tree skiing between the trails. That was fun. -It's the closest mountain for a lot of people in the Westchester/Hudson Valley area.
Don't come here expecting a huge mountain with high speed lifts. Expect to have fun and get in some good skiing without having to wait forever in lines. All of this assuming the weather cooperates. Don't forget you can call in ahead and ask what the conditions are...
Read moreWe finally decided to try this place with very low expectation (because only one lift, not a "commercial one" but an army affiliated facility, the website is really bad honestly. etc). It blow away our expectation by miles. we will be coming back every weekend for sure. We are parents with 8yr old boy from NYC. Me and boy are advanced, wife is very much beginner. We went to Campgaw which is suppose to be the "best learning place" for my wife, turns out to be a disaster if you every try their weird lift design you will know what I mean. We went to Windham, it is ok, but with 2.5 hours drive from city, the parking, the lift line, is just not worth it. This place is amazing. My son and I are able to enjoy all the runs, we had fun do some jumps and go in and out trees. My wife learnt on the long, smooth bunny slope and tried the chairlift for one long run. lift line is amazingly very very short almost all the time. staff are super friendly, parking is convenient and only steps away from the base.
Things can be better: please make the website better. the ticket purchasing site also was out for at least two days. the cable tow for the bunny run. I remember use something similar but there's a extension you can pull out with a hook so it can hook your leg. this one seems very hard to use for adult height. i don't know if you are suppose to put it behind your leg or use arm to pull it. either way it is very uncomfortable.
Even with these, it is easily the best ski place near city. we will be back...

I spent one hour there and I left, if I went another time of the lift, I would have injured myself.
