So it would be 5/5 stars based on the helpful and friendly waitstaff, they are attentive, happy to help you explore the different wines. They are knowledgeable, and recommend excellent pairings to go with all the delicious food here. I have no complaints at all about my experience once I enter the restaurant, it is professionally run and welcoming with a fun vibe!
Here is the big problem. There is a large bald man who's job is to organize parking who is consistently hostile and combative towards guests, to the point where my wife and I no longer consider this a good destination for date night.
I have heard additional stories from friends and family about him that include things like lining them up and calling guests with reservations D-bags (this one resulted in a fully comped bill and free to go wine bottles), refusing to allow people in without a reservation when they did in fact have a reservation that just were not on his "constantly updating list"(its a piece of paper written out in pen).
My personal experience that turned me off returning occurred over the summer when my in-laws who were visiting Northport for the first time. We arrived as walk-ins as we have done before without a problem, he told us that there was not space, come back in 30 minutes, as we were turning to leave my wife decided to run in to make a put her name on the wait list, when she went in the hostess sat her immediately as there were multiple open tables inside and outside. So my in-laws went inside while I went to see if there was a parking space available. I can understand if there is no parking for walk ins, I understand its limited space, but what happened next was needlessly combative.
I return to the driveway and let him know what happened and that my wife was seated and if there was space to park, after a he repeatedly accused me of "breaking the rules" (didn't realize the restaurant with open seating didn't want to fill those tables), he looked at me and said "No, today there is no parking for you pointing at me accusingly."
I decide to shrug that off and return home to call an uber to join my family about 15 minutes later. I return to Del Vino and get out of the uber and start walking in, he starts to shout for my attention before asking me for my reservation. It told him my family was already seated in there to which he replied "Yea I know" with a smug grin, clearly feeling like he won since I had to uber.
This experience poisoned my enjoyment of the Del Vino and significantly outweighed how lovely of an establishment it is otherwise. The unfortunate thing is for a business like this, they aren't the only game in town. There are numerous other restaurants, bars, breweries and distilleries in the area that are more affordable for the same quality and don't have a person screaming at you for trying enjoy their establishment.
Its a wonderful establishment, so long as you either don't mind the harassment, or are fortunate enough to avoid...
Read moreWent to DEL VINO for dinner recently and it was awesome as always. Everything on the regular menu is great, but their specials are always amazing.
I was glad to see the Chicken Parm back as a special. It's like no other Chicken Parm you've had before, and just like the previous two times I had it, it was phenomenal. Two Large, Thick, Crispy but Juicy Chicken Cutlets covered with thin slices of multi colored heirloom tomatoes and creamy Truffle Burrata. Fried Mozzarella and Roasted Potatoes on the side and a tasty salad. And no, I was not unhappy it came with potatoes instead of the typical pasta. The Roasted Potatoes made the dish even better. We also started by sharing the Rigatoni with Meatballs which is always amazing so I got my Pasta Fix too. Pasta is ALWAYS perfectly cooked al dente and the meatballs are tasty. Love their red sauce too, and I'm very picky with pasta, sauce and meatballs, my wife is Italian.
The Ultimo was the suggested pairing for the Chicken Parm and one I like, so I started with that. Was a good choice, but then I went back to a bottle of my favorite, which also paired well. The 2019 Signature Blend, which the bartender turned me onto a few months back, is their Best Red so far with Big Flavor and a Great Finish.
The girls finished with the Italian Rainbow Cake which was very good, but finishing with their Sangria was even better. I can't wait for the weather to get nice so we can enjoy the Sangria sitting outside on a Sunday afternoon.
As always, our servers and everyone working there, were friendly and great.
While this is a Vineyard with a great atmosphere, great service, and many great wines, it's by far one of the Best Italian Restaurants on Long Island.
**We just had our Salon's Christmas Party at Del Vino this weekend. As with our previous parties there, it was amazing. The Vineyard is decorated spectacularly both inside and outside for the Holidays, and the Tuscan room was a perfect setting for our party. So beautiful and classy, as someone said, and the wine was great. Everyone loved the Sparkling Amanti and the Reds. The Super Tuscan is tasty. Our staff could not stop talking about the food. We pretty much ordered a few of each dish on the menu. The pasta dishes are phenomenal. The Truffle Ravioli and Cavatelli pasta with sausage were amazing and the portions were generous. The cauliflower pizza is always great, but they added a new one with spinach and sausage that was unbelievable. Our server Pam and the rest of the staff were fantastic. They kept the food coming, the wine glasses full and the tables neat. Can't wait to go back for the pot-roast sandwich. That and a bottle of the Grande Super Tuscan are a perfect match. We have had Christmas Party's for over 20 years. Our staff said this was the...
Read moreI cannot say enough good things about Del Vino. I have been here a handful of times with friends and family, and fell in love with the atmosphere, food, wine and service a few years ago. So, when it came time to help plan my brother's proposal to his now fiance, I couldn't think of a better place for him to pop the question. We worked with the manager and photographer for a few months to plan the perfect engagement, and it went perfectly. Absolutely above and beyond our expectations in every way possible. Lindsey, who I was in contact with, answered all my (many) questions and emails SO quickly throughout the entire process, assisting me along the way. On the day of, Candy - the hostess/waitress, was the BEST! She made sure everything ran smoothly, catered to everyone's needs so diligently, went the extra mile with everything, and doing it all with a smile on her face. She was truly a godsend. Last but not least, the one person I really need to bring attention to is Christine, Del Vino's in-house photographer (and on social media, @soundviewphotographyli). She not only came up with the PERFECT, very detailed plan to make sure my brother's fiance didn't suspect anything, but she was so communicative, always available, and truly walked us through the entire day multiple times leading up to the 'big' day. She took a special care in reassuring my brother when he was nervous and made us all feel so confident over the last few months. She had backup plans in case the weather wasn't ideal, she was in touch with me the day of providing us updates to make sure everything went smoothly, and when the timing ended up being slightly off, she still found a way to make it work so perfectly, beyond my brother's wildest dreams. Not only was she the best point of contact, but she truly is the BEST photographer. She took the most beautiful, stunning photos we've ever seen. The pictures could NOT have been better. After their engagement and making sure their second surprise went off perfectly (both families surprising my brother and his fiance in the Tuscan Room), she took everyone out to the vineyards to get group/family shots. These are photos we'll treasure forever. She is so amazingly talented and anyone would be lucky to have her as their photographer and 'leader' for any event they host. Del Vino holds such a special place in all of our hearts and we can't wait to continue making...
