This mountain comes by its Iroquois name that translates to "Hill of Storms" honestly. "To-war-loon-da." Climbed it May 17, 1992 with my ex after camping the night before at the state Lewey Lake campground. It took us about two hours up and two hours back according to my climbing journal. Were were upset by the lack of a view back then (just as a few people here who have climbed it more recently have noted). We were angry to find the solitude at the top disrupted by some already drunk, beer-guzzling, ATV-riding rednecks. Did not own a cell phone back then to call it in. Also found a lot of broken window glass all around on the rocks and grass at the base of the firetower. Hopefully all these last things have been rectified. The remainder of the summit we noticed was hemmed in by gnarled, stunted, conifers. The hike back down was made interesting by the smooth rock face at the top quarter...
