Safety Rest Area 10 Mauston — Local services in Town of Kildare

I-90/94 westbound - Mauston - rest area 10 off ramp needs a much bigger sign and LARGE font to keep cars from driving into the truck area.

We assumed the car parking lot would be in the right lane.

You could only START reading the sign at the very last moment, so we had to jerk the car over to the correct lane. Coming off a fast highway, we were lucky that no one was behind us. 😬

We can't be the only ones this has happened to - making it a big sign would make all the difference.

Wisconsin does a great job with the rest areas and this is a great example. Easy to access with a long deceleration ramp and well marked separate areas for trucks and autos. I'm not sure why they opted to put the autos closer to the highway since the truckers are going to be idling and we four-wheelers need the quiet for sleep, but anyway.

Best reststop this side of Chippewa Fallls! Great vending machine selection, first stop offering Extreme Nerd Ropes out if machine since passing through Nassau. Also very nice natural light in the Men's room (can't speak for the women's). We found the parking lot to be well laid out with easy access both in and out.
