My family and I have made it a tradition to visit local farms every fall to support small businesses in our area, and my two kids were especially excited to go to Pully’s Farm this year. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing and upsetting.
When we pulled up the long driveway, we saw a giant teddy bear made out of hay bales. Since the driveway is narrow and I didn’t want to block traffic coming in or out, I briefly pulled up to the side of the lawn to take a quick picture of my kids with it. I had no intention of parking there for the rest of our visit.
Almost immediately, the owner pulled up in his truck, got out, and instead of kindly asking us to move, he started yelling: “What the hell are you doing?! Get off of my property!” I immediately apologized and told him I would move the car right away, but he continued to yell at me, saying things like “You couldn’t park on the side of the road?!” and “Who do you think you are?!”
I again apologized, told him we’d move, and reminded him that we’ve come every year to support the farm. His response was to shout “Go! Leave! We’ll be fine without you!”
At that point, with my children visibly upset, we left. On the way home, I had to explain to them why we would no longer be visiting Pully’s. A tough lesson in how someone’s approach and attitude can make such a difference.
Afterwards, I even called the farm to calmly explain what happened, but the person who answered brushed it off, saying: “That’s the owner. He was probably just telling you to get off, there’s nothing I can do. I don't even know why you called."
It was hard to shake the feeling that we were being judged & unwanted.
It’s disheartening that what could have been a special family memory turned into such a painful experience. Kindness and respect go a long way. Sadly, we didn’t find that at...
Read moreGreat experience exploring all the activities with my family. The man at the pumpkin shoot was very informative about what he was doing. Very cool to see the pumpkins shoot out of canyon but as we went to shop inside the gift shop I asked a woman for a box to purchase donuts 🤦she was quite rude and not helpful. She told me to use a bag. I asked her name she said Meagan at that time I then stated to her I know next time not to ask her for help. She then replied well we don't need your business. I was appalled and decided my money won't be used there and we left. Sad my family had to experience that. Maybe she was having a bad day. A more pleasant answer about the no boxes would have been suffice but the attitude and demeaner of her voice plus body language was appalling to say the least especially in from of my children. We were simply trying to have a...
Read morePully’s is a true local treasure. It’s a smaller farm market that is open for many seasons but really shines in the fall. They’re perfect for families, with a huge corn pit, play areas, a corn maze, cannons, duck races, goats to feed and more all with no admission fee. Most activities are free, feeding the goats requires some quarters and the cannons require a few dollars. Pumpkins, cider, cider slushies, baked goods, decor, and fresh produce are all for sale at very reasonable prices. The u pick sunflowers are awesome and very affordable as well. To me Pully’s represents the best of the autumn season in WNY. It’s a must...
