We had the most wonderful experience at Arthur’s Acres during their volunteer day! From the moment we stepped onto the farm, it was clear this is a truly special place where animals are deeply loved and cared for.

It was my daughter’s 14th birthday week, and she is an absolute pig-obsessed girl! She’s been begging for a pet pig for the longest time, so what better way to see what’s really involved than spending a full day working side-by-side with these beautiful animals? It turned out to be the best birthday gift—a full day of service and volunteering that was good for the soul.

This time we worked with the large pigs, scrubbing barns and helping prepare for the winter. While we worked, these gentle giants—some the size of ponies—wandered around carefree, lounged in the sun, and even snored contently as we cleaned. They roamed the many acres of free land they call home, scratched their backs on barn poles, enjoyed fresh-picked apples, and soaked up every pet and scratch from volunteers.

The pigs themselves came in every size, shape, and color imaginable—much smaller pigs in the sweetest shade of baby pink, medium pigs that were speckled and spotted, some with messy hair that made them look like scruffy dogs (or maybe even a capybara!), and others with long snouts that resembled elephants. And every last one of them looked happier than… well, a pig in poop! 🐷✨

The farm is completely vegan and organic, and they make sure everything that enters the sanctuary is safe. Vinegar and water were our go-to cleaning agents, and lunch was nothing short of incredible: steaming hot vegan chili, fresh salad, roasted root vegetables, cornbread, and a peach upside-down cake bubbling out of a cast-iron skillet. As we ate together, a few pigs came and went from alongside the house—some of the “indoor pigs.” When we asked how they know who’s indoor and who’s outdoor, the answer was perfect: “They tell us, and they choose.”

Along with the pigs, there was also a beautiful chicken coop, a few goofy dogs joyfully running around, and on the side of the house, a cat enclosure filled with adorable cats lounging on hammocks, soaking up the sun and the fresh breeze.

The entire day felt like harmony—animals, people, and nature all thriving together. The sky was brilliant blue with puffy white clouds and endless sunshine, making an already perfect day feel absolutely magical.

Not only were the pigs amazing, but the kindness shown to the volunteers was equally heartwarming. We left with our hearts completely full, our bellies filled with delicious food, our clothes completely dirty and smelly, and our boots full of muck (lol!)—the ultimate sign of a day well spent.

If you’re looking for something truly wholesome and good for your soul, consider signing up for one of their volunteer days. There is always meaningful work to be done, preparation to be made, and teamwork required to keep these animals safe and happy. Arthur’s Acres isn’t just a sanctuary—it’s a place that radiates...

I have followed Arthur's Acres on social media for quite a while, so when my mother surprised me by scheduling a tour of the sanctuary, I was beyond excited. Even though my expectations were extremely high, the experience was even better than I could have imagined. I was immediately struck by how peaceful and well-kept the sanctuary was, and was overjoyed to be greeted by Princess the pig and sanctuary founder Todd. Anyone who has followed Todd's interactions with the animals virtually can boast about how uniquely compassionate and selfless he is, but I was truly blown away by how incredibly kind, humble, and genuine he was in person. He receives no salary whatsoever, though no one would fault him for paying himself--rather, he allows every bit of the donations to go entirely to the animals. As he showed us around the beautiful property, I was astounded by how much special attention was paid to ensuring that the animals were in the best possible environment. The barns and sheds were so lovely, with couches and roomy stalls for each of the animals. Moreover, the land itself was beautiful, with rolling hills of grass and plenty of room for the animals to live and graze in. It was so special to be told the history of each animal directly from their rescuer, along with the history of the sanctuary itself. I was so lucky to be able to discuss animal rights and veganism with such an incredible advocate and activist. By the end, I was nearly in tears from how grateful I was that these animals had found a home with someone so incredible as Todd. They were the most well-taken-care-of pigs I have ever met, and although I have been to several amazing sanctuaries, I think everyone that has visited Arthur's Acres can attest that it is unique in just how happy and loved the animals are. Todd just might be the most hardworking person on the planet, and I honestly wanted to abandon the rest of my life and volunteer full-time at the sanctuary, or at least donate my entire bank account to him, haha! It was such a privilege to be able to meet the beautiful animals that I have admired from afar--highlights include beautiful Princess, Moby (who took off running to greet us as soon as he saw us coming), Mikey the piglet, Katniss, Karl, Petey, and an incredibly sweet chicken (whose name sadly escapes me) who allowed me to pick her up and pet her. Todd's little dogs also followed us everywhere, which was adorable, and it was hilarious to watch them dodging the big pigs. Visiting Arthur's Acres was in the top 3 best moments of my life and anyone that is on the fence about visiting absolutely needs to go. It is life-changing. Thank you Todd--for helping the animals and for finding time in your very busy life to show us...

Our family was looking forward to visiting Arthur’s Acres for weeks. It was so inspiring to see how loving and dedicated they are to the animals.

Todd led us on an amazing tour with our three young kids. We knew the pigs love apples, bananas, strawberries and pumpkins, so we brought lots of produce to donate. Todd was warm and welcoming and made us laugh. He cares deeply for each individual pig, and is extremely knowledgeable and attuned to their needs. He shared their stories and we learned so much. Many start out traumatized, defensive and afraid. We were moved by how he slowly and patiently works with them, helping them to feel safe and secure, and eventually happy for scratches and belly rubs.

Interacting so closely with the pigs was incredible. They are such beautiful, funny, intelligent and gentle animals.

Thank you, Todd and Bek! In advance of our visit, Bek was responsive and helpful. Her designs are also very fun and we enjoyed choosing t-shirts and other merch from their shop to take home. We hope to...
