Camp Lokanda — Local services in Town of Lumberland

My son went to Lokanda for his first summer at the age of 8. We were reluctant as he was still so young. To say he had the time of his life is an understatement. When I told him there was 319 days till camp started again, he whined “how come not 3 or 9.” As you readers know, leaving your parents for 7 weeks is a huge undertaking and the fact that he asked this question meant the world to me as a parent.

The most important thing for me was that my son feel loved and safe. The staff at Lokanda are and I quote him “his second family.” They communicate with the parents as much or as little as you want. Dana and Ronan, the owners of the camp, are active and available. They are not trying to sell the camp or themselves. I really appreciated that and felt that other owners were more about selling the camp than making sure the fit for my son and the camp matched.

Besides this, the activities and the events are amazing. The smile on the pictures that are uploaded on a daily basis speak to the love he felt and how much fun they make it! My son talked about World Cup day, Pirate day and superhero day.

Thank you Lokanda for making my son smile each and everyday. For teaching him, loving him, making him laugh, giving him leadership skills and making an impact on his life....

Summer of a lifetime. Working at camp as a general counsellor was special to say the least. Nothing can prepare you for what happens during camp, but there is seriously nothing quite like it. The atmosphere at camp during day to day activities and sports tournaments are unbelievable.
