I have been here multiple times as a teenagers and loved it. However, this was my fist time coming here as an adult with my husband and children. I was extremely shocked of how the owner spoke to my kids (5 and 7) on multiple occasions. When we first got there my son threw a pepple. In a very loud and aggressive voice, the owner yelled at him to go find the people and put it back where he got it from. Now don't get me wrong. I have no problem with someone correcting my kid when needed, but that was a little much. Not to mention, my kids are not punk kids with no manners, they are good kids. I let it go and we moved on with our day. THEN.....the owner crossed a line. As we were driving up to own cabin (at 5 mph), my son popped his head out the window to wave to my sister who was already at the cabin. Later that day when we went down to the store, the owner walked up to my son put his finger in his face and stared barking at him about how he can not stick his head out the window. And when I say barking I'm mean like you would have thought that my son just slapped him across the face or something terrible. My son, clearly terrified, I stepped in. As politely as possible in the moment where I wanted to scream, I asked him to please speak to me or my husband if he has a problem with something my kids are doing and we will handle it. He then told me that I'm the kind of parent that raises bad kids because I don't let other people talk to my kids! He also had alcohol on his breath during this encounter, which my have contributed to his rage with my son. Will definitely NOT...
Read moreI decided to rate this place 1 star because its a very poorly run facility. There are 2 or 3 people that run a 300 plus camp ground. Thats just overwhelming for anyone. The communication with anyone from this place is unacceptable. Hours of operation they say is Mon and Thurs from 9-5, yet when you call during those times no one answers because there is not enough staff. The manager is very rude and obnoxious and demonstrates poor customer service. Corporate(Z-man resorts) is no better. I guess when your headquartered in a different state you really have no idea what goes on which is poor oversight on their part. There is NO WIFI, VERY POOR CELL SERVICE, NO CABLE, SEWERS THAT SEEM TO ALWAYS BE FULL and the list goes on and on. As a seasonal owner with young kids, it is very important that i know what to do in the event 1 of my children get hurt. With no cell service or wifi o guess they expect you to drive 15 min down the road to call for help, its RIDICULOUS. Also you will notice all the other reviews that seem good but dont be fooled. Those posts are from when this camp ground was owned privately by a gentleman named Barry who sold the property to the Zeman Corp. 2 years ago. Not 1 post about this place since Barry sold it. Seems to me there might be something to hide and i can see why. If someone posts a negative comment about them on their webpage they immediately go in and remove it. I can go on and on but bottom line here folks, the place is not worth it, much better places around the catskills to camp. BEWARE AND DONT BE...
Read moreIf you are on Hwy 209 you want to get off on Hwy 17 W and then use exit 112, turn left on Masten Lake Crossover, then left on Wurtsboro Mountain Rd, then right on Masten Lake Rd/56, then right on Mt Vernon Rd, the campground will be on your right. You avoid a very steep hill by going this way. All the roads are easy to navigate as are the roads in the park. Check in was fast and friendly. There is a general store with basic needs. The park is very well maintained. There are a number of permanent sites but all are very clean, most have beautiful gardens. The overnighter section is a wide open field with few trees. There is plenty to do. A large pool, playground, stocked pond with canoes, horseshoes, a huge skate park and a large pavilion. There is a restaurant that serves breakfast on Saturday and Sundays and an adult lounge. Our site was a back in, extra wide and grass. It was not very level, we had full hook ups, no issues with any of them. There was plenty of room to store our tow dolly on site. It was very quiet. Plenty of places to walk the dog, no dog park. The laundry and bathrooms were clean. WiFi was an extra charge of $14.95 for the week, this is why there is a 4 star and not 5 rating. The WiFi was okay, spotty a few times. We stayed June 18-25, 2018 and paid $46.00 a night - $48.70 with the WiFi cost added in. There was...
