Okey, I am here to explain why I gave one star. It is not because of their service/product quality. It is because...
Here you go...I went there for the first time (10/21/16) and purchased beef tongue for abt $113, believing that they charged me $ 1.99/lb which was clearly stated on a price list sheet of green paper. So I left the store happy.
Next day (11/22/16) I returned to make another purchase for my friend who wanted some more beef tongue. So I was ready to pay n looked up the register. Then I noticed that the beef tongue was calculated at $3.99, instead of $1.99. Thus, I brought their attention to it. Luckily, the boss/manager/owner, John, was right there n solved the problem perfectly for this purchase, not the one from the previous day because I didn't have the receipt with me.
In the very next day, 10/23/2016, friend of mine went back to the store with the receipt for me cuz I left the town already. My friend got the problem solved for my first purchase with little difficulty.
So the difficulty was when my friend was there on 10/23/16, John got upset yelling at my friend who is his loyal customer of about 4 yrs n a woman and even said, " NEVER COME BACK n leave "MY PROPERTY" in 2 minutes if not, I am going to call police!" Whatever, who in their right mind would come back to do business this rude/threatening/bully man.
So after all these experiences, I wanted to say, " The service/quality of product was EXCELLENT but John should not treat my friend or anyone that way who is your loyal customer n after all a woman. I would call it bullying; it is very rude of you, sir!!!"
After all, ONE, this is country of free; no one should be threatened for doing nothing wrong.
TWO, customer is THE KING. As a consequence of your action/choice, you lost a loyal customer ( you would never know how many you've lost behind her). How much "market" do you have for your beef tongue in that small town populated majority of white peopple whose main diet is BEEF n POTATOES, not beef tongue. Anyways, hope we've all learned something from this n reflect on our choices we make everyday.
So why I gave one star.
Good luck to your...
Read moreYesterday, was my first time visiting this Meat Market. I had previously hired them to cater an event a few years ago. I was so impressed with the taste & leanness of the brats, that I declared them better than my Johnsonville favorites. I was excited to finally have a chance to visit in- person and fill my freezer. I was wowed by the size of the place, and how clean and organized it was. I was surprised to find the prices significantly less than on their website (about 38% less). It definitely pays to shop in person! Plus, they offer much more too. They had fresh meat, frozen meat, precooked meat, cheeses, spices/rubs/marinades. This is what a Meat Market is suppose to be! There were a couple unimpressive points though too. The precooked corned beef I was so eager for, didn't have a packaging or use by date. That's a deal breaker for me. Everything should be dated. Other packages of precooked beef had thick white fat. I can appreciate marbling & naturally fatty meat, but am not willing to pay for top dollar for untrimmed/excess fat. I bought the precooked brats and after preparing them multiple ways, I don't like them. I couldn't get past the heavy garlic powder scent/taste, and they weren't as lean as I remembered. That might be the difference between precooked & fresh/raw brats. I also bought a Cheddar Summer Sausage and a Cranberry Summer Sausage. The cranberries were much sweeter than I anticipated. The Cheddar was very good. My recommendation is to go in-person, and buy one pound packages to sample before going all-in on...
Read moreVery disappointed. I should have listened to the locals and gone elsewhere! I Ordered bacon, landjeggers and ring bologna for family in NC for Christmas. Wis River shipped in a box: NO ICE, NO INSULATED BOX and through USPS. Needless to say, my family rec'd package four full days later..warm slimey bacon, warm ring bologna. This is unacceptable! Nothing obvious on their website indicated it would ship this way! I Paid too much money to send it this way. I called WisRiver next business day. All the woman had to say (repeatedly) was this is how they always ship things. She would have owner (?) call me back. I NEVER rec'd any call back!! I understand bacon and bologna are smoked but Would you eat bacon after it's sat on your counter for 4 days??? Terrible Customer Service. Save your money! UPDATE - after a call from Patrick. (See below) I appreciate your call to me, and your offer to "make it right." I did find it interesting that your call came a week after I called and was told that I would get a callback the day after my call...and ONLY my review was posted! I only spoke the truth and firmly believe that reviews are a useful tool for all consumers. It's important that people know the truth. Your request to take the review down and you would "make it right" with me, concerns me. I wonder how many other bad reviews were removed because you "made it right" with the customer??? Enjoy...
