I have been attending this fair since 1992 when I was 12. Now I'm 44 with my own children and boy have things changed. Everything is EXTREMELY over priced. This year (2024) was the "first ever family day". What does that mean exactly??? There was no difference from any other day of the week. It cost me 12 dollars just to get in and then 25 dollars for each of my kids. Which is the same price it was the rest of the week. I did not see anywhere where prices were reduced for "family day". A cup of tea was 10 dollars. If your kids want to play any of the games that we all use to love when we were young then you'd better be ready to spend a few hundred dollars. 10 dollars to throw 3 baseballs at bottles just to win an extremely cheaply made tiny stuffed animal that cost 1 dollar anywhere else. We all knew back in the day that the games were rigged. We didn't care then because it was a dollar and you could win a cardboard framed picture of your favorite band or movie. The prize and the fun justified the cost of the rigged game. Now.....greed has taken over. The games are still the same (rigged in a way) but insanely over priced and the prizes are just lame. I'll assume a lot of other people felt the same way which is why the game section of the fair was practically a ghost town. No one was playing them.. gee I wonder why...on a "family day" you'd think they would of cut those insane prices and those games would actually made some money. Instead all those game vendors stood there making nothing ..what sense does that make...it was a sad thing to see..it never use to be that way...greed has made people to stubborn to see the common sense here. The food prices were just as high. Fair food is extremely cheap to make . That's kind of the point. Yet, it's extremely expensive to eat. We went to McDonald's instead. All in all, every year, it just seems to get worse. People forgot what a fair was. As with everything else in life, greed has taken over. If they do have another "family day" next year, I'd suggest making the fair more inviting for the average family. The average family can't afford a 10 dollar 8 ounce tea (with half of the cup filled with ice). The average family would have to work for an hour just to throw 3 baseballs at a bottle. If you don't change things then don't call it "family day". Call it what it...
