A fantastic, long-standing climbing facility that's served the lower Hudson Valley for 15+ years.
You won't find a sauna or a coffee bar here- instead you'll find passionate and knowledgeable staff, a welcoming and uplifting community, high quality instruction and programming, and routesetting that is memorable, varied, and very fun.
The smaller facility lends itself to an engaged & welcoming community. People know each other and help each other even if they're strangers. People cheer each other on. The vibe from the staff also help carry this kind of atmosphere throughout the facility. It's not something you will easily find in other gyms in NYC/CT.
Seriously, the staff here is exceptional. They bring a remarkable amount of diverse backgrounds and climbing experience, which is evident in their enthusiasm and guidance. Even if you're a newbie or a pro-climber, the staff's attitude and willingness to help others really nail down the supportive and encouraging environment at Valhalla.
This place is a shining example of what a climbing gym can be when it prioritizes both exceptional climbing and a strong sense of community.

Read moreReally terrible experience. Went there for an climbing pass and was prepared to pay extra fee for the additional month when Nick a manager there rudely and racistly, decided he would not honor the agreement. Then I had to argue and fight with him who was vividly angry and flexing in front of his pubescent staff to get a refund for the money I spent through their website. He actually tried to claim his phones didn’t work and he could call to try and get my refund. He acted like he was incensed over having to help me. So uncourteous and unprofessional. He pointed at the floor and told me to stand behind the line as if f he were a cop and I was a criminal. Climbed for 20 years and dozens of gyms and never experienced such a nasty attitude. Total bummer. I’m guess it’s a...
Read moreEvery gym has its own personality and this is one of my very favorites of all time. Totally unpretentious with lots of super incredible climbers. I’ve been a member here for many years and it has always been a really chill but challenging place to climb. Route grading is pretty steep but it pays off. The setting is good and accessible to climbers at all levels. The space isn’t enormous but they fit a ton of routes in with room for a little fitness area, too. The staff is friendly, helpful, welcoming, and they climb on their breaks and after work. What more could you ask...
