Zulu24 airsoft — Local services in Town of New Windsor

Normally I would give these guys a 5/5 , I have played with zulu on and off since 2012 at the old field. But this past sunday November 25th 2018 wasn't one of their best moments. A staff member by the name of Anthony was extremely rude to myself and my friend as well as two other customers. While we were playing our game a random person came up to me and my friend while we went off of the sidelines to fix his gun. While fixing his gun in a safe location he went to unfog his goggles at that point a player was walking onto the field and told my friend to get off the field for 30 minutes with no warning. We could not even tell he was a staff member because he was not wearing anything that showed him to be a staff member. We tried to explain to him what the issue was and he said "I'll let you off with a warning". The next game we played on a different field two new inexperienced players were having an issue with their goggles. At the beginning of the game I approached Anthony to ask him where we could unfog without an issue. He said I don't know and then gave us a location to unfog. After the game went on he saw the two players unfoging where he said would be okay and proceeded to yell at them and talk down to them. Keep in mind these two players were full grown adult's who were being talked down to by someone much younger then them but age should not be a factor when the players tried being rational and tried to calm him down he got extremely frustrated and proceeded to yell at them. He is very immature and has an issue with being able to order others around. All staff members should treat every customer with the same respect and equal treatment. The owners of Zulu 24 are great guys and deliver a great product but beware of this guy Anthony at Zulu 24 he needs...

I’ve gone twice and both times had the same positive and negatives.  Overall, the field is extremely strict regarding chrono and safety rules which should be the gold standard everywhere.  Safety is an actual concern they take to heart. Unfortunately despite their clear organization in rules and safety, the gamemodes lack any thought and players have an incentive to ignore the objective.

Negatives:

1. Poor referees. The refs openly said that their job is not to call hits.  They are only there to maintain safety and the flow of the game.  For multiple gamemodes, this meant they didn’t bother to correct blatant spawn camping (you walk back to respawn and then are hit within a minute, walking back and repeating over and over).

2. The gamemodes used up too much land.  A wide flank meant half the round hiking.

3. Stalemates and lack of action.  Due to harsh punishment for dying (long walk back, time not playing) a lot of players played overly cautious which led to stalemate gameplay.

4. Lack of objective gamemodes with a clear winner and loser.  The majority of players didn’t have any idea who won until asking the refs after the match.

Positives:

1. Proper chrono based on joules with color coded tags based on minimum engagement distance.

2. Two color coded armbands for each team.  One team had two blue arm bands, one team had two red armbands.  It was very easy to tell who was on your team.

So it's not 5 stars because there is definitely a difference if you play often or once in a while. If they see you play, consider you as a somewhat regular, they treat you differently than if you are just starting out. Now I play 4 different fields, indoor and out. So I see how they treat players. It's tough if ur just starting out. And honestly, a lot of the players are arrogant and think they are hot shit. Dude, relax. The biggest issue always is players not calling being hit. And refs can't always see it, I don't blame them. I will always be there for the guys just starting out, I got you. Now the field is awesome. They just did some renovations so it got updated and fixed. Some wooden structures really needed them. The games are fun and rules are clearly stated. This is the closest field and I love it. Just watch out for the "try hard" people. Especially this one specific group, which purposely shoot people after they are hit. You complain and bc they are buddy buddy with the refs, they get a little slap on the wrist. And from now on when I see that specific group, if they are not split up I want a refund.
