Store originally owned and operated by a wonderful Mennonite family that moved to be closer to other family members. Current owners spent quality time with the Mennonite family, before they left, to understand and operate the business as the previous owners did. Recipes for homemade breads, cookies and pies are the ORIGINAL RECIPES!!! If you are looking for fresh bakery items, this is your store!!! They bake Wednesday-Friday unless during major holidays they will bake on days prior. There is also a WIDE variety of spices, beans, rice, soup and dip mixes, flours, sugars, candy galore, snacks, oats/oatmeal, GF items, sugar-free items...I could go on. They do their very best to find you exactly what you need or make suggestions if they don't have a product. They are quick to offer special orders if you need a product they might not have at the time you are there. It is a bulk food store run as the previous owners did that offers some items that can be hard to find anywhere else! In the front room you can find soaps, lotions, Amish creams, gift items, books, cutlery made my RADA, signs, etc. Best part- fresh fruit orders during appropriate seasons!!! Tangerines, lemons, navel oranges, blueberries, cherries, organic carrots, beets, etc.! BEST BLUEBERRIES I HAVE EVER HAD AT AN EXCEPTIONAL PRICE!!! Best, best part- The owners and staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They have done a tremendous job keeping up the store from the previous owners and are always looking to grow to bring the community the next best products and opportunities!!! Example: They started a farmer's market this past summer/fall! It was incredible to have that event so close to home and in our rural neighborhood. They are an incredible family to work for!!! I was so pleased with my visit to the Kauffman Country Store! The handmade craft and fabric items were exquisite. Soaps and lotions, medicinal oils, greeting cards - something for everyone. Most of my purchases were grains, spices, and home made preserves, jams, and honeys. Everything was very clean, the atmosphere peaceful, and the staff extremely helpful and welcoming. There was also a wide variety of high quality kitchen utensils, as well as hand carved wooden cutting boards. Outside there were benches, tables and chairs, and sheds. I can’t believe I haven’t rated this place yet. Thai first time I found this place was 2019; stumbled upon it, literally driving by to a wedding in Beloit. Boy was I glad to have found this place!! So cute and “fun” - in the sense of just having everything you could imagine. I love the idea of everything weighed out in individually packs- take what you need.
