I am calling this the step master 5000 mountain from now on! I wouldn't say this is an easy hike. I would say this is more of a moderate hike. This trail isn't easily marked. You will need to go around the back side of the lodge to the left by the old bobsled shack building and the old 1980 bobsled track is. There you'll see sign in booklet. I call it the step master 5000 because thats pretty much the trail. A bunch of rock steps with really long switchbacks that felt like forever. But man those steps! Someone has a sick sense of humor putting all those steps in! Cut me some slack for a guy who's in the upper 300 lbs range doing outdoor endurance hiking in very hot and humid weather in August. If I can do it! anyone can do it! Views at the top are amazing! Smoke was thick with the wildfires from Canada coming down into the ADKs but made it look really cool with the haze! I think I read somewhere the trail is 1.7 miles to the top but I don't think that's true at all? Felt like a 4 or 5 mile round trip with this trail that was just rebuilt. There was a lot of steps/stairs on the trail in the beginning. My knees definitely took a beating after this as they were in pain but could have just been the way I was walking.
