Years ago I played here and it was a grueling 5 1/2 to 6 hr round. Played yesterday 4/14/18 and I'm glad to see NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!!!!! $100.00 ROUND and still 6hrs. Totally unacceptable. Our 4some play 3 sub 90 rounds and 4th picked up and moved along with us as required, which was never because we waited every hole!!!!! We were not part of the problem. For sure. After the 5th hole we had to actually drive up to the group in front of us and ask them to stop looking for a lost ball for 8-10 minutes every other hole. No rangers in site. 8th hole par 3, wait at tee box as usual, ranger shows up and parks. "You can drive thru Sir, we will wait". " No, I will wait" he says. "No, please Sir drive thru". "I'm try to speed things up" now comes out of his mouth!!!!! He proceeds to sit and won't leave. That sped things up by a good 3-4 minutes in the wrong direction, SMH. So as he sits and one of the group is in his back swing, chirp chirp pick up your radio Phil comes blasting out of his radio!!!!! Another awesome Ranger skill quality. "Please Sir, move along to the two groups in front of us, they are probably walking around looking for their balls. You have about 10 minutes watch them look for a ball. Please say something to move them along". " Well there really isn't anything I can do or say" comes out of his mouth.
After yesterday's shananagens, I think I'm done once and for all. 6 yr wait wasn't long enough to play here again.
P.S. Don't plan on spending time on the putting green either, the first tee back up also backs up the putting green. Your can't go putt until the starter send you down which is group on tee, 2 groups ahead of you and you join. That's 12 on The green with 2 flags to putt at. Thank goodness everyone used tee's or a ball marker to spread out and just loosen...
Read moreI've played here at least 6 times since 2020, and the course has never disappointed me.
At least four of my visits here have been part of stroke play competition from two golf leagues that I have been in since 2021.
My best score ever was a 91, and the best finish I had in my golf league was a third in my division.
The fairways were cut to regulation height and impeccable with no bare spots. The tee boxes were well maintained and not too beat-up. The greens were a bit too quick during my last visit (09/13/24) but in really good shape with minimal pitchmarks.
I shot a respectable 92 during my most recent visit despite an abysmal putting performance (40 putts), including six three-putts, so I think that breaking 90 may be a reasonable goal to reach in the near future.
As a walker, this track is a hard walk with at least two holes on the back 9 that requires leaving your remote-controlled pushcart at the fairway level and trek up around 40-50 feet up to the tee box.
Playing a total yardage of 5,816 yards composed of a mix of White (Par 5s) and Gold (Par 4s and 3s) based on my league specs, this track was really a good mix of interesting holes including four driveable Par 4s (2 holes each on the front and back ).
There is a full-length driving range and putting green but no short game practice area.
Customer service was good, and the starter was friendly enough to squeeze me in 20 minutes earlier.
Pace of play was better than average at 4 hours and 5 minutes. Green fee was a good deal based on a resident twilight rate (4pm) of $32 that starts at 4 pm. I only had to use my night golf equipment (UV ball and long-throw LED beam flashlight) on the last two holes to be able to complete my round.
Overall, this is a really great track reclaimed from a carved-out sand mine, and I intend to be back with the goal of...
Read moreGood golf course but one star for by far the WORST customer service I have experienced anywhere. My experience was at the 9 hole course. As my party walked up to check in, I saw a middle age white worker harshly scolding two gentlemen who rented golf carts. They apparently didn’t take the particular golf carts the worker specified - an honest mistake which did not warrant the uncivil response. The older employee was extremely rude but I shrugged it off and continued to check in. The young employee in check in was professional enough.
Then it was our turn to deal with the older employee to get our carts. Since we were early for our tee time and the first course was clear, I asked if we can get started... The response I received was verbatim “you don’t start until I say you can start!” Well then, we waited until our tee time but the employee was no where to we found. Thus we went up to the first tee. As we get started, the employee comes out and starts berating me “didn’t I say you don’t start until I say you start?!” - to which I promptly responded with disgusted apathy. The next couple hours was very enjoyable on the golf course but I already made up my mind about my experience.
When it was time to return, we saw the next customer getting equally despicable customer service. The next customer was only 6 minutes late to his tee time but was treated extremely rudely. The worst part - it was a different employee. I’m cannot say where Harbor Links found its employees, but they have no place in golf, or customer service, period. My friends and family will be...
