We found this place a bit closer than the farm we've been going to and figured we'd give them a try. Strange feeling upon walking in. Almost felt like the movie Get Out. After we were welcomed by the manager, love the Jamaican accent, things felt better. After picking the apples we came back in and that weird Get Out feeling returned. There were more yt people than before inside, just standing, men with arms folded, watching us. Maybe because it was a bit after closing or because we're black or maybe their resting face and posture collectively is simply disturbing. Who knows, maybe I'm just paranoid. Anyway, the manager weighed our apples and the owner told him the price. I thought the price was a code they entered to ring us up because I just knew these apples were not about to cost almost $20. Stunned! Rounding up, $17 for a half a bag of apples.
The other farm we frequently visit, about 5-10 mins further, we get 2x as much for the same price and we can pick from every kind of apple tree they have. There's so many we still haven't tried them all. They charge by bag size, so we know up front how much we are paying. Their pumpkins, one price for the big ones and one price for the small ones. Their smoothies, the best I've ever had. Anyway, SIMPLE IS SO MUCH BETTER. I hope this place simplifies their pricing method. Let the scale go or repurpose it for commercial b2b use.
I wouldn't give them a low rating because nothing bad happened. The service was good, the apples tasted okay, my other young adult children weren't fans, but everything overall was okay. I wouldn't return because I didn't like the vibe. Though the manage was great, something felt off there. Also everything is price by weight, guessing how much I'm going to spend, it's not for me. It's supposed to be a chill experience not a guessing game...
Read moreWe visited whittier fruit farm on a fall day with a bushel basket packed in the car to pick apples. We were greeted by a kind gentleman who explained to us the different types of apples available to pick and a few types which were more expensive and would need to be separated. He also walked us out to the orchard and showed us exactly were the courtland empire fujui apples were located. The fruit far is amazing trees are marked in the beginning of rows. Apples were large plentiful and delicious! The orchard is clean. On the weekends Whittier offers hay rides and has a patch of pumpkins. I highly reccomend apple picking at Whittier fruit farm! Family fun for everyone. Whittier has a web site and fb page for further information. We also bought a bag of Tango apples which is a newer variety of apples. Large crisp juicy sweet but delicious!...
Read morehave been coming to Whittier Farms to Apple pick for years now! Its one thing about fall I look forward to every year.
The Farm is so cute and welcoming, very homey and down to earth. In addition to the multiple apple rows of a variety of apple types to pick from they have a farm stand with already picked apples and some other fun fall treats. There is also a "playground" of little plastic play houses for kids to run and jump on.
Lastly they have a pumpkin patch that they've expanded this year which includes a wagon ride out there and back. I am excited to see what...
