If your looking for a place that will kee there word and that you can count on look elsewhere. I stoped in about 2 months ago to try and reserve and order a pig and was told that I didn’t need that much and that 1 week was enough time in advanced...fine. To be safe I went 3 weeks before my party and ordered and put a deposit on a pig for roughly 90 people and was told it would be ready the day before my party. Just to be safe I called two days before and also the day of the pick up date to ensure my pig would be ready considering that it needed to be cooking the next morning. I was told by 2 different employees that it will definitely be ready for me. NOT..for starters on pick up I was rudely ignored for over 15 minutes only to be told that the pigs were slaughtered late that day and I couldn’t take it because it was still warm and there is a huge risk for bacteria to grow.I expressed to them how unnaceptable this is considering I was never told earlier in the day and that I had already checked in twice to be sure it was ready. All I got was a shoulder shrug from the owner. NO APOLOGY OR ANY OFFER TO CORRECT THE SITUATION. She then offered that I could take the pig until I was then told by another owner that it’s way to risky. The last thing I need is to have all my guests get sick. Long story short after being lied to that there was no other pigs that they can give me they magically came up with a pig that was considerably smaller than the one I needed. At that point I very respectfully asked for a little break on the price and was told flat out NO. “ these pigs are good pigs” I don’t care if it’s made of gold if I don’t have enough or any at all it’s worthless to me. NO ATTEMPT WAS EVER MADE TO TO HELP ME OR APOLOGIZE!! All I got was rolling eyes and shrugging shoulders! BEWARE! If your counting on the food to make your party...
Read moreThe actual store Is behind a house so it was somewhat confusing as to where the actual store was. Ample parking to the left of the house, as you're facing it, but it's a schlep to the door. I was unimpressed when I entered. Treo typical butcher counters, glass front enclosed, items in the refrigeration case. I expected to see more.
The first case to my right had some poultry, sausage and pork cuts, along with eggs.
The second case, perpendicular to the first, contained ground beef, 80/20%, and roasts and steaks. There was no liver on display.
As you complete a turn around, there's a small cupboard with some spices and rubs. To its left was an upright freezer with frozen meat products.
The young man who waited on me was friendly, knew his meat cuts and shared his knowledge with me. I never knew that rib eye steak was the same as prime rib without the bone. Edited 5 mins. later: turns out he was wrong. They come from two different parts of the cow.
Its a bit of a drive past Webster, so I'm not sure is worth the gas. Theprices we're comparable, maybe...
Read moreI've been here a few times and have always enjoyed the experience. This visit we had a quarter cow sent to them for processing. They did a great job, and our cuts of meat were the thickness we requested, and mostly everything we asked for.
We had extra cuts we didn't request, but knew that was how this worked. And the rest was done in ground packed in the weight we asked, and all freezer packed.
They loaded us up, and we're friendly. Just note, they prefer cash or check, and while they accept card, I've heard it is going away soon, and they do charge I believe a 3% fee on...
