Ontario Orchards — Local services in Town of Oswego

I met up with my family at this must stop farm shop overflowing with mums, pumpkins, gourds, corn, produce galore and so much more! This is a genuine farm experience, the pumpkins are the largest I've seen for sale this season and the mums are in full bloom in brilliant colors of all kinds! My son enjoyed fresh baked goods and apple cider. No one left empty handed! We headed over to the Fall Jamboree and enjoyed the festivities there as well! Tasty steak sandwiches, Mac and cheese with bacon from the bbq food truck and Wine Slushies from Ashley's were all delish! Pumpkin painting, make your own scarecrows, animals to visit, tons of fun for kids!

A must stop farm stand and pick your own orchard! Take the hilly drive through the fall foliage to check out this hidden gem! Jam packed with all fall produce and fresh baked goods with the fresh scent of the pies, donuts, cakes, and giant cinnamon buns and much more, wafting throughout this amazing farm stand as you shop! Many decorative items for fall and Christmas season as well! Fudge, nuts, and all the seasonal treasures you can imagine! I left with a box full of goodies. Help was just a little short even early on a weekday but I can imagine it’s been a super busy season. I was going to go back for a bunch of pumpkins but it seemed they were overwhelmed. I definitely will make the drive again!

Went on a very hot day and purchased a large load of groceries (produce, salads, etc). Things appeared to to not be up to temp in the coolers and the baked goods were sweating in the heat.

The muffins fared fine with the heat issue but cookies were rather terrible. And both of the salads I got were fully rancid. Fruit also wasn't faring well but that was mitigated by putting it in the refrigerator as soon as I got home.

Other goods that were stored on shelves wound up taking on humidity and also spoiled almost instantly. I bought beef jerky that was inedible.

I worked food service for a number of years and I know that environmental conditions can affect cooler performance and food safety. But this poses a danger to customers that are not as forgiving or well informed. I understand that there is very little that can be done on a 90 plus degree day, but perhaps investing in new coolers and better storage of food would result in less product spoilage. Despite the business being a rustic farm market, having a wide array of products means that the building needs to have some climate control installed to keep everything fresh and coolers up to temp.

The store was very well stocked with all types of delicious produce and groceries. We purchased some fresh fruits including delicious peaches and cherries, as well as some prepared foods to stock our pantry. We camped overnight in their orchard as guests of the Harvest Hosts Program. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ontario Orchards near Oswego, NY. As noted by others, the beautiful and secluded campsite is about 5 miles away from the store. The very quiet and serene campsite is located between an apple orchard and Christmas tree grove. The parking was mostly level firm grass, and we were surrounded by birds and wildflowers and were treated to a gaggle of turkeys with their chicks the following morning. We were somewhat hesitant about parking in the grass as there were very heavy rains that afternoon, but the grassy parking area is actially very firm with gravel underneath and we had no problems whatsoever parking and maneuvering our 28ft motorhome. Be sure to bring insect repellent as you are completely surrounded by nature. Fairhaven Beach State Park, and the Sterling Nature Center on the bluffs overlooking Lake Ontario are nearby.
