My mother died here in the locked dementia ward. I had to basically move in when she died for her to get proper treatment. I slept on the floor for the last week of her life and visited her often. My mom would lie on the floor for up to 45 minutes with no one to help me lift her and every time I showed up she had a new bruise. The patients are treated in an assembly line manner because they are so short staffed. My mom would always be in dirty clothes, unwashed and smelling, if I and other families members had not been there often I have no idea how she would have suffered. The workers try to do their best as far as I saw but the staff to patient ratio is insane. While I was there overnight ( and I was only allowed to do this because my mother was dying ) I saw what went on at night, one nurse was managing 2 floors by herself. She could not possibly attend to everyone and my mom had to wait long periods of time for her meds. I wrote her med schedule down and called them when doses were needed. The food is revolting, and it’s small portions. If you want anything heathy you must bring the food yourself. If you don’t bring it they don’t provide it, your loved one will be lying in a room naked if you don’t provide them with what’s needed. The clothes and blankets are all basically communal, so if you bring a really nice blanket or sweater you might see another patient with it because the nursing staff is only trying to prevent folks from going naked or having nothing. Do not be fooled by fake reviews by people involved in making money though this facility, it has been bought and sold many times and they think they can change the past with fake reviews and discount what has been going on for years by changing names. Read what actual people have to say and research the past of this facility, it is literally dangerous and still the place of my nightmares. EDIT: This was obviously before COVID-19, I can’t imagine what goes on there with no supervision by families. Do not send anyone you care about here if you...
Read moreAs a resident I can say that beyond a doubt the management only cares about the "bottom line" and not the residents. The are very short staffed and they only care about the cosmetic appearance of the facility. It is used to pull the "wool over the eyes" of visitors to us residents. The staff is WONDERFUL. They go above and beyond to take care of us residents but the management is only concerned about cutting costs. They even went as far as decreasing the portion size of our meals just to save money and assure a bigger bonus check for management and share holders. They are very short staffed here and management does not care about our well being. I have seen staff workers break down in tears because of the stress of the job. Some have resigned in tears because of the policies of management. We have lost at least 3 LPNs and many CNAs because of this. It is affecting our health, our care and our well being. We deserve better since it is OUR federal money that pays for this. Many of us, such as myself, are physically challenged and there are many with various mental conditions that could not exist outside of a facility. Do your loved ones a favor and speak to random residents to get the whole story not the story the management hands out. The food here has gone from bad to worse. Triple aught buckshot are served for peas and there is NO meat in the meatloaf. It is soy burger. The portions are so small now that when you are done eating at 6 PM you are hungry again at 9 PM. There are no snacks provided. Do your loved ones a favor and avoid this travesty which will soon turn into a tragedy. To put it bluntly, living under a bridge is a step up from this...
Read moreIf you want to send someone to their deathbed look no further than Cooperstown Center. The centers has minimal staffing that doesn’t satisfy the needs of patient care. Patient’s needs go ignored until they are in critical condition and need to be hospitalized. In the case of my grandmother, she had a GI bleed that was never caught by staff until it was too late, and she was not treatable at the point it was found as it was too far progressed. I would never wish another family member to go there as I’m sure they will meet the same fate. I wish no one to go through the same pain that this place has caused our family. They should be investigated and shut down. Please don’t send your family here! Their leadership is a joke with their chief of nursing; who is in charge of the staff taking care of your family member has only having an associates degree in nursing as opposed to a BSN or higher degree. That to me speaks to the incompetence of this facility in their ability to take care of your loved ones when they cannot hire someone with higher qualifications than an associates to direct their entire care staff such as the RNs, LPNs, and CRNAs. Don’t make the same mistake as our family, and DO NOT send your loved ones here. Spend a couple extra dollars to get higher quality of care. It’s worth it. I regret sending my grandmother here. I knew this facility when it was better and ran by the county, and they do not provide the same level of care. To call this a skilled nursing facility is a joke. I hope you don’t make the same mistake...
