Joe Flaherty/OEM Auto Audio is a GENIUS! He seemingly knows everything there is to know about car amps and radios, and he's happy to share his knowledge. In our case, Joe remotely diagnosed a challenging Lexus radio problem (over the phone) and patiently explained to to my mechanic how to make it work again. We are so thankful -- OEM Auto Audio saved us thousands of dollars and a lot of wasted time.
The sound in my wife's Lexus RX450h radio abruptly stopped working. The Lexus dealer estimated $500 to troubleshoot the problem, and $3000- $5000 to fix it. My local mechanic (whom I love but who does not do radio diagnostics) suggested going to a car audio specialist, and getting a work-around system: installing a new amp, and possibly replacing the radio head unit with basically a tablet. While a less expensive solution than the dealer's, the work-around meant that my radio would still be there but none of the buttons would do anything; we would have to control the radio, etc., with our phones, through apps. Ugh.
Neither choice sounded acceptable so we went to the web where we found a YouTube video (Suburban Ranch) that said OEM Auto Audio had repaired their broken amplifier. See link: https://youtu.be/H5kH85xiE5g?feature=shared My wife called OEM Auto Audio and left a message. Joe, the owner of OEM, returned her call about an hour later, and as she started to describe the situation, he stopped her saying, "I know what you're going to tell me. You were listening to the radio and the sound went out, but your screen still works." It was exactly what happened. Joe explained that our SUV radio and amps almost certainly did NOT need replacement. The solution was far simpler -- disconnecting, cleaning, and reconnecting one of two wires between the head-unit and the amplifier. The first connection is located below the center console/shifter area. It needed to be accessed, disconnected, cleaned, and reconnected. Best of all, I could do this one myself. If not that connection, then I would need to access the other connection behind the radio head-unit.
My problem was not the first one, so I took my car to a shop (pulling out the head-unit is above my pay grade). They removed the head unit, cleaned the connection behind it, reconnected it and that was it! This fix cost no more than a few hundred bucks.
It's rare to find someone in the car repair world who will tell you the truth. As Joe explained, he'd rather provide helpful information over the phone than sell someone a part that would not fix their radio. We were so fortunate to have found OEM AA....

I ordered the replacement amp, it was shipped and received promptly! I had the old amp removed and installed the replacement amp and the issue was not resolved! I still had no sound and no control over the sound functions of the radio even though it was actively playing my phones bluetooth. I went to return the item (my mistake !!!) and the seller contacted me. They explained to me that the junction connection was probably my real issue and that there was nothing wrong with either amp. The Seller sent me a text and a description of how to tackle the issue. I took apart my center console and followed the cleaning instructions, 45 min to an hour later I was able to get sound from my stereo again. I contacted the seller again to let them know and they told me to return the item and they would only charge me for shipping which I feel like is fair considering the amp wasn't the issue to begin with. Waiting on the refund now, but considering how stand up this company has been I'm not too concerned that I will receive the credit on my card here shortly. Again, things didn't go as planned but this seller is solid in my book, I would definitely recommend using them over buying a new amp they are a solid company, with solid products, and excellent customer service!!!
I included the verbiage and photo that was sent to me by the seller!! they are great!
There's a common connection issue present in these vehicles. There's a junction in the data cables between the head-unit and amplifier that routes below the center console/shifter area. Attached is a picture of this junction connector. Simply unplug this connector, spray some electrical contact cleaner inside both connectors and work them in and out a few times. Reconnect the connectors and hopefully this resolves your issues. If you would like further guidance, then please use the contact information provided in the box to reach out - we're more than...
Read moreI had purchased a refurbished amplifier for my 2014 Lexus Is250 from OEM Auto Audio in hopes that it would solve the issue that I had with no sound coming from my factory Lexus stereo. Upon reading many forums of other people that had the same issue, I came to the conclusion that the amplifier needed to be replaced due to possible water damage. I purchased the amplifier from OEM Auto Audio on ebay, and the shipping was extremely fast. Upon installation I was left with the same issue, no sound coming from the speakers at all. I spent countless hours trying to figure out if it was another module or possibly a defective head unit. I had exhausted all of the contacts and resources I had, so I decided to give them a call. Joe answered the phone and listened to my issues and suggested that I try disconnecting and cleaning a connector located on the passenger side of the center console. He was even kind enough to send me a high resolution photo of where the connector was located. It took me a mere 2 minutes to find and clean(with quick dry electrical connector cleaner)the connector then re-connect. Upon start up of the vehicle I had sound!!!!!! I then made another phone call to Joe to tell him my findings and to let him know it worked. I offered to pay him some additional money as a token of my appreciation and he politely declined. As a small business owner myself, I always find it encouraging to know there are other companies out there that are focused on customer service and not just the bottom line. If you are in need of a professional company that can assist with all of your OEM car audio needs, please look no further than OEM Auto Audio Inc. I will definitely recommend them to all that I know and will continue to keep them in mind in the future! Thanks again!!!! You saved me...
