Baker Farm Market & U-Pick — Local services in Town of Porter

I don't know where to start, this place is MOST DEFINITELY BIG FAMILY FRIENDLY!!!! Helene the guest service operator was just sooooo pleasant and the other woman that worked beside her as well. We just felt so at home on this beautiful farm with great harvest to pick. I thought it was a great idea to reach out to family to go apple picking and we couldn't of chose a better place to spend time and create memories. There were so many great choices of apples to pick. We were accommodated so kindly by guest service along with the hay ride operator for our very own cool ride through the farm!!! (It was a bunch of us) Enjoy the picture below, we had to be the "apple of the drivers eye" hahaha... Look in the shadow of his glasses, we are all in it!!! That was such a funny ending to go through my phone and notice that the driver took a selfie when he was so excited to take our family picture that we asked for. It was extremely affordable for my family of 9 personally and my 3 other separate families I invited with us. I can go on and on... Down to the gentleman in the golf cart that kindly notified us that the farm was closing but to hurry up hahaha and grab all the apples I could fill my bag!!!! This place has gone downhill. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and the staff has always been passive-aggressive, but this year was a new low. They now charge per person just to pick apples, on top of paying for the bags. When we questioned it, they were extremely rude and arrogant and told us “people steal apples and shove them in their pockets so now you have to pay for it.”??? They also told us we wouldn’t find better prices (which we did, immediately, at another orchard). The only reason we kept coming here was out of family tradition.

When we left, the two women at the counter were yelling after us, “We’ll see you back here soon! See you next time!” really unprofessional and embarrassing. The so-called corn maze is just a straight path with no turns, and it hasn’t been updated in years. You also can’t jump up to grab apples you will be kicked out.

I’m glad we finally found a new place with actual amenities, fair pricing, and great customer service. The staff there even said they weren’t surprised when we told them how badly we were treated here.

I hope they learn from this because some good customer service skills would’ve changed this whole outcome. Especially when they claimed they “might not be open next year” yeah I’m not surprised with how you...

I will NEVER RETURN AGAIN! The owner in the blue pick up truck is DISGUSTING and EXTRE DISRESPECTFUL. He drove his truck a whole 5 feet over to my Son, my self and partner. Yelled at and pointed all in my 13 year olds face due to the fact that my son grabbed a branch not hard, to grab me apples from the higher branches. He didn’t tug on the branch or harm it in any way. As a owner there are better ways to approach customers and KIDS. We as costumer are putting money in your pocket! We drove over 1.5 hours for over 6+ years to pick apples here. Ill will be going to Becker farms next year. He ruined my sons apple picking experience. We immediately left after didn’t even finish picking apples due to my son was very uncomfortable then.
