I went to this school and while most of the teachers were fair/good to innovative/friendly, one teacher in particular who has caused my score to the school to be only 3/5 is a statistics teach named "Georgianna Ryan" who I had my last semester in 2011, she was very rude to me and there was at least one incident in which she said she needed to talk with me outside the classroom and instead of that she slammed the door behind me and would not let me go back in and following that incident when I tried to use my cell phone to contact my Mom which if I remember correctly she took from me first saying something along the lines of she had to use it for something before she pushed me out but I found that my phone was not working because I think she had removed the battery before she gave it back to me and I believe she tried to do it to me again and I think she tried to do it to another student and I think I was able to stop her first but she was very mean and it is my strong opinion that she should be examined for this and any other such issues and in tern dismissed from her position and fined for her arrogant disregard of for the feelings of her students especially since I think she tried to push me down the stairs once, and several time held up the elevator so I had to walk down the stairs either by keeping it on the floor she had gotten off on or by holding the door open when I was on board, also she refused to help me out in the math lab on several occasions and several times refused to come to the administrators office even when he asked her to as well as sign the papers she was made to by my note taker who I rightfully had because of my Asperger's Syndrome so they could be compensated by the school which is another issue of hers so if anyone goes to this school make sure to keep track of all such issues for both yourself and your fellow students should you take a class with professor "Georgianna Ryan" and if you or someone you know has had a similar issue with her I would recommend giving a complaint to the college administration and making sure other people know about it as I have just done, as for the best of the teachers that honor goes to "Dr. Lidia Treadway" a teach of Psychology who is very friendly with her students and teaches both her "General Psychology" and "Abnormal Psychology" classes very well by among other methods show the Movie "One flew over the cuckoo's nest" in both classes and in her "Abnormal Psychology" class shows "The Aviator" plus "The three faces of Eve" and "A Beautiful Mind" as a way of showing how people like those in the movie function in society since as she says she can not take us to a Psych ward to meet the real deal, so remember "Treadway Excellent"...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSuny Adirondack, one of the worst experiences of my life honestly. The dorms are mostly the reason for the cause of trouble on campus. Don't get me wrong ,the staff are great (most), but for the other 80% of the campus, I would say avoid. If you can afford to go somewhere else do so. We could not really do anything without being told no, or being questioned on where we were going or what we were doing. Public Safety constant;y was in your business or inviting themselves into rooms to room check. Also not to mention tension built between students would lead to violent crimes on campus. Vandalism here is an all time high, and there is corruption in the student body as well as officers on campus. A note to take as well is, that almost anybody can get into this college, and with dorms comes mixing NYC kids with Upstate country kids, does not go well. This really was not a good place to be. My friend almost died in the lobby (while choking on his vomit officers put him on his back?!). Amazed me of how untrained they are to deal with an OD situation, because some spiked my friends what ever that night. I made a few good friends, but refuse to go visit due to public safety honestly. They give me the hardest time trying to go knock on my friends dorms to see if they were home. It was like high school mixed with a prison here. Also the cops are right in the dorms, hope you sleep well if you go here. Probably not though because how loud everyone had there music. This college was not a college and never will be.
P.S. I'm sorry to my past professors whom see this, this had nothing against the program I was in. Honestly this is a good school for Adventure Education though being located right under the Adirondacks, just don't get mixed up in the riff raft of the under belly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI enjoyed this college a lot. I went before they built the dorms back in 2013. Reviews werenāt as popular back then and I see some mixed reviews so here is an honest one.
The people in the financial aid office are amazing. They help you and really explain things to you if you donāt understand. They really educated me on financial aid and how it worked since it was all new to me. I did work study and working in the gym/sports events was great. I met a lot of cool people and coach Haskell who oversaw most of the athletics at the time was amazing. If you do work study opt for the gym!
My professors were pretty good. And if you needed extra help you just ask. Iāve forgotten her name but my history professor was very intelligent and genuinely cared about her students. My music teacher (I got stuck taking that class) was HARD but I learned a lot. Thereās also a tutor study section in the library many people donāt take advantage of that.
Go to orientation and to sporting or events even if you arenāt social itās a great way to meet people and learn about the school.
The campus is beautiful and if you donāt want to live on campus you can most likely find something near by. I commutes from VT at the time so it was a long ride but I loved the school.
The only bad thing I would say is that they need to have a better disabilities area, because not everyone has the...
