Takundewide Cottages on Lake George — Local services in Town of Queensbury

I can't believe there is only 1 review for Takundewide on here! Maybe everyone is trying to keep the secret? Starting with the location, its perfect. Located on quiet Harris Bay tucked in far off the road this village of cottages is very quiet, peaceful, and well maintained. Cleverdale store is about 1 mile away for last minute items, deli, and fresh baked goods. Walking or driving in watch for the deer, they may actually outnumber the squirrels! Numerous well cared for beach cottages are strategically placed throughout the property some with lake views, some waterfront, all very nice. Personally I have stayed here twice and both times it was perfect. My family keeps a boat here all summer and so we are on the property regularly all season. Two large boathouses provide great places to sit and catch a sunset. The small private beach is a huge plus and not something you find many other places on the lake. More than enough Adirondack chairs and lounge chairs on the huge lawn looking out at the lake seem to always be filled with people that have that "I don't want to leave here" look on their face. I could go on and on, staff, grounds, cottages, location, no losers here. **Yes there is a dog in one of my pictures. We were not staying the night, just visiting our boat. I do not believe there are dogs allowed in the cottages. I've never see one...

We took a leap of faith staying at Takundewide this summer (end of August) with our 11 and 9 year old kids. There weren't that many reviews posted and even not many of our friends had ever heard of Takundewide. So it was a leap of faith, and it was a great trip. And a big surprise to see so many other kids there at a similar age for our kids to play with. The location being on the east side of the lake is also nice as you get a beautiful sunset over the lake each night. Our weather for the week was perfect. Not sure if we got lucky or if that is typical weather that time of year. The grounds are very well groomed. The residents and other renters in the community are also so friendly. We were even invited one night to another cottage for a small bonfire and roasting marshmallows. The same family invited our daughter out onto the sundeck at nightime for stargazing. This is a special place. Only area of improvement that I would suggest is the comfort of the beds. But that might vary by unit so you will want to inquire.
