A couple of warnings. 1. There is no Severance Hill Trail, it’s called Severance Mountain Trail. That confused us at first. 2. Don’t let GPS take you onto I-87. The entrance is on RT. 9 and a bit past where our phone map said it would be. Other than that, we agree with the many other reviews of this trail, it’s mostly easy with a few steep areas but not too rocky most of the way. The beginning is fun as you travel through two tunnels under the highway. It’s a short hike but the steepness makes it a good workout with a payoff of a great view at the top. We ended up sweaty and satisfied and ready for lunch!

Perfect short hike if you are staying in the Schroon area! Great for a quick workout, 1.2 miles to the summit, with an aerial water view of Schroon Lake and Paradox Lake. Because of the moderate steepness, little to no rock scrambling, and the wide trail, it is super pup and family friendly. There is a small dirt parking area at the start of the trail. I have driven there as well as biked there from Schroon because it is so close. There is a small stream running through it, so it makes for peaceful scenery and cute bridges, but definitely wear and bring bug spray!!

Quick hike up to a nice overlook (actually 2 different overlooks). You can hear the Northway most of the time but it is a well maintained trail that you cross under the highway to really start the hike. Shouldn't take you more than a couple hours.

Climbing to the summit of Mt. Severance and spending the day that close to God and Heaven is my FAVORITE day of the year! The views are AMAZING! We plan our whole vacation around this one day and it is so special each and everytime! Would not miss it...
