Sunken Meadow Golf Course — Local services in Town of Smithtown

Used to come here with my Dad all the time before he passed. Haven't been here in over three years since I moved away. But, I was very impressed on the money that the state spent fixing the place up. Nice new clubhouse with a nice pro shop. The old one reminded me of the inside of storage shed. It was also nice to see some of the same friendly faces I've seen for years before. But the biggest surprise was seeing the courses transform from goat tracks to an actual enjoyable golf course. The tee boxes were in great condition and was greens, which rolled quick and true. The fairways and the first cut were also in great shape. The rough outside of these areas was rough, and if you hit into these areas you deserved the punishment. My biggest surprise was to water on the Green course. I heard that they use it to irrigate the courses to save water. It does come into play on the 5th hole on the right hand side, so be careful...

I am a disabled veteran, can't drive. Graciously military Vets may play gratis. I ride my e+bike 15 miles to course and manager will not allow me to plug in battery to charge ("We are not a charging station", fear of fire with "those" batteries. Same batteries as every phone & laptop & everything else, Li ion - FAA allows it on passenger aircraft in flight ) (brought my own charger, with golf clubs on my back on bike+1 Gal liquids as a soda costs $4.50, and they will not give any ice, water, or anything else not outrageously overpriced !)

What am effective manager would do would be to see a need of a customer and find a way or get permission to help the customer.

The course itself is very well maintained but the whole process of getting to the tee time itself is always an issue. Firstly, they canceled my reservation because we showed up 30 minutes early instead of 45. The lady at the desk gave us such a hard time and charged us for an extra person. All that just for the starter to let us out at the time we had originally planned. And just yesterday the starter was giving me an attitude and being disrespectful because he wouldn't tell us on average how long the delay would be. So not only does this place have no issue canceling out tee time and not calling us to confirm we are coming but they don't feel the need to send out an email saying there will be delays? Extremely unorganized and I will not be playing here ever again. There are so many other courses in much better shape who are organized and nice...
