Tonite was a horrible experience . My Mother who is a Diabetic and a resident at Paramount at Somers was feed Cranberry juice not diet , pure sugar cane sugar with Tea, Rice and a cold dry cream cheese and Jelly Sandwich for Dinner !! after meetings with Kelly by phone it is Poor Judgement on this Dietary staff This meal has no protein in it and the nurse on the floor stated she can only have a limited amount of ensure for sugar content maybe they should switch to Glucerna ! and not give her regular juice drinks and regular sugar if you are really worried !

Moving my mother into a facility was an emotional experience. I was just as scared as my mom was. It was a blessing to have the tram at The Paramount at Somers to make this transition in our life a smooth and wonderful experience. Thank you!❀

I wrote a review about a few years ago about my experience here but I'm ready to say a little more this might a be a long review. I was a younger patient in my thirties for rehab and wound care.I was transfered there from the hospital on a Saturday night which was fine the night nurse was super sweet and everything. And at the time I couldn't really move. The next day they used the hoyer lift to get me out of bed which I had no problem with getting out of bed to sit in a wheel chair. But they put me right in front of the air conditioner and I wasn't able to move the wheel cause I didn't have the strength in my arms yet. I asked some to help me into bed and they kept saying after lunch they were busy which I understand. I was in front of that air conditioner for 6 hours after repeatedly asking to go back to bed. Mind you I went in the beginning of August.Fast forward a few weeks. I got this horrible pain in my foot that I'm still suffering from. They didn't do xrays or anything they just like me be in pain to the point I was in tears and throwing up cause I was in so much pain that all they gave my was oxy. My toes had also curled too. And then I had to get the wound vac that kept falling off and after using I didn't feel right but got told it was all my head that I had to have. Now skipping to the first week in Septemeber. Now I was walking a little more and everything and was having PT and OT together. They wanted to see how my balance was in the bathroom which I had no problem doing. But then I got dizzy and thought i was going pass out and faint. Which they immediately helped back to bed. And then I went into the wheelchair until aide saw I looked like I was going to pass out and helped me into bed. That's when the throwing up started. After I would eat I would throw up I told one nurse and she said she would tell the others. Every morning I would throw up and mention it but they seemed like it was no big deal. Also mind the next after me almost passing out the wound doctor was very nasty saying I told you to be sitting up when I came and when I explained I almost past out the day before he said he didn't care. Also one night I asked to go the hospital cause I was in horrible pain in my side. Thinking it was my gallbladder cause if had problems in the past with it getting inflamed but got told not luckily that pain went away. One night aide was so nasty cause they tell you ring the bell when you have to go to the bathroom but she would be slow and I would have an accident she would always say you aren't going home cause you can't hold it. She made me cry every night she was assigned to me. The other night aide was so sweet. The aides and nurses during the day and after were great so sweet and very friendly to talk to. It was the heads of the wing that were nasty. One doctor was nice the either was alright.I signed my self out in October cause I felt like I was alright and got told it would be ok. How wrong I was. I fell twice trying to get into my house cause I was weak. Everytime I would walk around my house I would get dizzy. And I couldn't eat I would throw up after I would eat or drink. I finally went back to the hospital and found out I was going into kidney failure. When I got asked when this stared to happen I told them when i was in the nursing and they were surprised they didn't bring me to the hospital.I luckily got my levels down but lost my strength again. So I got brought to another nursing home cause I refused to go back. Funny thing I got the same care there with wound care there as well cause my wounds weren't fully healed. I told them I didn't want the wound vac for one and the nurse said if what they were using did work for a week then I would have to do it. But guess what i didnt what they used worked right away and it healed faster then the 3 months i was in Paramount. And PT i was walking better then i was. And when they released me a month and half later i was stronget and walking with out the fear of falling. Ive seen people say they have good experinces but...

One can see this is a long review and skip it. If you care to continue, I hope it is helpful. My elderly father was taken to be admitted at this facility on a late Tuesday afternoon arriving around 4PM. He was placed in his room and into his bed. He was not given any orientation verbally or in a written form. When I arrived soon after, upon inquiry we were told the toileting/bathroom situation would be a downgrade from my father's abilities coming from the hospital. We were told that until the physical therapy evaluation the following day, at an unspecified time, there would be what was effectively a downgrade in mobility, hygiene and dependence on staff. I noted a couple of other issues with staff but there was a blank look or another response of "Have to wait until tomorrow's evaluation." It seems the hospital discharge papers were irrelevant and everyone was paralyzed until tomorrow's evaluation. There were many issues and worries about my father's care there and we gave 36 hours to staff to get into some level of competence, and then we complained. Strangely I was lectured by the unit manager that Paramount is an "institution" and it's "not like home" and there are "processes". I would state that it took four full days to see that the "processes" seemed to be working better. Even on a full day three and into day four, the shower was yet to happen even though I was asking questions about it. However, I would advise anyone bringing a loved one here, elderly or not, that the care needs to be CAREFULLY MONITORED. There are serious communication gaps, definitely in the computer system which it seems does not properly instruct aides with what the physical therapy guidance is, in particular what the toileting needs are or are not necessary. I could go on about the list of lapses and weirdness of staff not showing their names on their, what seem to be, ID tags, only stating that they are vaccinated. It has been a struggle with basic issues. I would say the banner headline is COMMUNICATION. My father has not received clear communication, written or verbal, and the family receives the first orientation packed about 24 hours later by email in a PDF form. The written communication has improved and I hope it keeps being provided as the duration of the stay continues. I do not know if the facility is understaffed, undertrained, too many patients, or whatever combination of internal administration/operation issues. All I can speak for is as a family caregiver observing over a period of six days what has been going on. I will state that the few physical therapy and occupational therapy staff I have met and spoke with were forthcoming with information and so that we became better oriented. These women helped slowly lift the fog hanging over the care situation in this institution. There has also been one nurse in the evening, who when I ask a question, she is helpful and professional. Sadly, my experience of most of the staff has been unhelpful and unprofessional. So far the total experience has been of minimal competence, except with the physical and occupational therapy staff and the one evening nurse I mentioned. I am grateful to them. Needless to say, it is painful leaving one's elderly and vulnerable parent in a...

My major concern was Safety there was never enough staff if there was a fire they would not be able to get all these patients out safely. Recently, I went to visit my Mother there was one Aide and one Nurse. People were forced to stay in their beds and at the table. Bells were going off in rooms, patients were yelling for someone to help them, no one was attending to them. Visitors were asking for their Parents to be taken out of their beds so they could visit with them. Patients, were asking my Husband and I to help them. It was 4:30 in the afternoon. I was so upset I asked for my Mother to be released. I was denied her release. They told me if you take her out Medicare will not pay for any service she has received. I would be responsible for her entire bill of her stay. I was told over and over by the staff Patients have rights we can not go against their wishes. Then why would they not let her go home after she told them she did not want to stay. She no longer wanted their services. I was told do the right thing talk to the Administrators, Social Workers on Monday and have her released on Monday. I was in no way in the position to pay for her rehab stay. But when Monday came I was told by the Social workers, not Administrators (because they did not return calls) I could not take her out until Thursday because it would take that much time for Medicare to approve her release and the papers needed for her release.

I called Medicare hotline, The Nursing Home complaint line, and was told that was untrue, Medicare has no such policy, I was told The Paramount of Somer would be paid for the service my Mother had received during her stay. I called back to The Paramount of Somers to tell the Social Workers that were on the phone what was said. They told me that they are just operators on the hotline answering the calls and that the operators were wrong they did not know Medicare policy’s. I felt like the Paramount of Somers was holding my Mother hostage. It is awful they don’t care about safety, hygeine of patients, or feelings of their patients. I felt this place was all about the money. Horrible. .

*We went to pick up my Mother today at 2:45pm she was sitting at the table all her clothes, her belonging Were placed in a garbage bag. My Mother’s room, bed was already occupied by a New Patient even though she had NOT yet left The Paramount of Somers and was being billed for the room until 11:59 PM. Like I said The Paramount of Somers is all about the money, Not the care of the Patient. DISGUSTING. I wonder if It is even legal to have 2 Patients occupying and paying for the same the bed, at the same time and what Medicare Would think about that. Disgusting Taking Advantage of...
