I had a terrible shopping experience here a few years ago and can't get it out of my mind. I was visiting family in Cooperstown and stopped by the shop. I purchased a few things but to my regret left behind a sterling and moonstone lobster brooch as it was outside of my budget. I called the shop and spoke to the owner who agreed to sell me the lobster at a discount. I made a special trip the next day to get it and when I arrived I was told that she changed her mind and would not honor the price she had quoted. She told me she has lots of clients who collect lobster items and would have no problem selling it at the full price. That was her prerogative but I felt led down the garden path. The trip was a waste of my time and she should have just told me she wouldn't lower the price in the first place. I ended up buying it since I didn't want the special trip I made to be a total loss.
