Original: I really enjoyed the World Of Outlaws racing, the track crew did a very good job preparing and maintaining a good racing surface throughout the night. I really liked the seating it was all aluminum benches with backs that were comfortable and plenty of leg room and no knees in your back. The only things that I did not like about this venue was the lack of sinage, the directions on how to get to the pits were very unclear (yes you could use Google maps satellite and look around) but certain areas are fenced off and there wasn't any map. There was also a lack of communication among the workers, I was told at the front gates pit passes were $10 extra dollars to find out they were really $45.... some of the track employees were very short and not very friendly while others were awesome and there to help! I also did not like the fact that other spectators were smoking in the stands... not one word about not smoking in the stands or "designated smoking area" for the people who chose to smoke do so in a certain area... some were respectful enough to stand up and go down by the fence or walk up by the bathrooms away from others to smoke while others were not. Overall good venue, I would recommend it and plan to attend again.. but I learned some things and now know what to expect!
Update 10/02/2022
I wanted to update my review from last year. I attended this venue for several events this year. The World Of Outlaws Independence Day Spectacular (Sprint Cars), USA Nationals (Late Models) & Also The Legendary 100. I think after this year with the quality of racing and track prep as well as fan experience I will be updating my review from 4 to 5 stars. I had reserved seats for the World Of Outlaw Independence Day Spectacular and the other two events bought general admission tickets.. I think the backstretch seating is very underrated and if you get a chance to go to the very top of the grand stands I highly recommend! The views are amazing! I also want to note that this year there was mention of a designated smoking area at ALL the events I attended and for the most part people seemed respectful of others! I also want to mention that the track staff and officials do a great job directing traffic before and after events to make sure people arrive and...
Read moreCedar Lake Speedway is the quintessential example of how to run a dirt track racing venue.. It is privately owned and consistently making upgrades to both the track and the scheduled events. It seems like everyone working there really cares and appreciates their role. They have a jumbo tron to replay accidents or other worthy occurrences. The stands are exemplary in the way that seating on both sides of the track is available which allows for the avoidance of getting dirt blown unto you. One interesting factor to notice when sitting on the backstretch is how there appears to be a row of trees strategically planted to cut down on the glare of the sun a little earlier in the evening.. Many minuscule and mostly unobservable details to the untrained eye are widely prevalent. Another interesting aspect of the Cedar Lake Speedway is there is a big bird nest in the corner of turn 3, which doesn't seem all that special as first. However, the bird nest initially was built on older lighting system and when the Cedar Lake Speedway changed their lights they added a spot for the bird nest.. Maybe it was some weird law or regulation against upsetting a bird species but either way it showed that the organizers care about more than just putting on excellent race programs. People are encouraged to take news articles, programs and other promotional material to become better educated on the art and science of dirt track racing. All around great facility and have no qualms about making 3 hour round trips...
Read moreWent here for a work thing, ended up being on one of busiest nights. Never been here so I somehow ended up by some trail back beyond the stands. Ended up following some golf cart and found my way to a parking spot thanks to one of the workers, real nice lady.
As for getting into the speedway, simple especially if you already had tickets bought ahead of time which thanks to Tristar, I had a vip pass.(although I never used it)
as for the stands, pretty clear sight to everything. For the announcements, if you're on the farside of the track, and the sweet roar of the engines are going, you might not hear much. But you'll definately have a smile on your face as the cars go by.
It's been 30 years since I've went to any track other than a horse track, I'd definately come here again. But earlier.
Thanks again Cedar...
