Purchased digital versions of all my books weeks/months prior to start of semester. Still have no books a week into school. Bookstore impossible to get in touch with, they never notified me that my payment sent through my financial aid did not process correctly. I had to leave voicemail, emails and finally a week into the semester heard back that I needed to update payment info. I updated it, and now on a holiday weekend I still have no books and they left without completing my orders. It's digital so it wouldn't have taken very long I'm sure- and I was emailing with the head of the bookstore all morning so he knew I was going to update my info, he also knew I needed my books for assignments due tomorrow and still didn't process the order. Now I likely won't have books until Tuesday. Very poor service--to never notify me of the issue, and then not fix it before closing for the holiday weekend. Would not recommend attending Brockport if you want your books and accounts handled well. I already had a $90000 charge on my bill for some odd reason! They couldn't just delete it, they had to credit my account $90000 lol its ridiculous the issues they have. I thought things would have improved since my husband attended 10 years ago, but clearly...
Read moreIf you commute....don't come here. All the commuter parking is taken up by people who live on campus so you can't find a spot. You'll get a ticket for parking where there isn't a spot but someone who lives on campus won't get ticketed for storing their car in the commuter lot (they have a massive lot for students living in campus) Actually come to think of it; the parking here is just abysmal in general.
The gym for people who aren't student athletes is very small and they don't have showers so if you live off campus you can't go to the gym between classes.
While the library staff are helpful the library is small and they don't enforce volume levels so no matter where you go it's loud.
If you're a Veteran...don't come here. The VA office is slow, inefficient and has more extra paperwork to do than any other college I've been to. It seems like every semester there's some problem that prevents them from processing the paperwork. Even MCC does it better. When you go in to politely ask for help you get attitude from their staff as if them helping you is a burden. Literally every veteran here has issues with this place. What's worse is the hours of the veterans office are short and obscure so you'll probably have class when...
Read moreI can't say I'm a fan of this school, and if I had it to do over, I would start a different degree somewhere else rather than transferring to this one as the only school available that would take under half my credits. Unfortunately, you don't know what the "vibe' is going to be with the teaching staff until you're enrolled and working on the degree. My primary issue, as an example, in a screenwriting class, a teacher saying they won't provide information on screenplay formatting, then has the first assignment as formatting a screenplay, and has students in a discussion forum edit for each other, giving conflicting points about what to do, then the teacher wants us to rewrite it based on that conflicting advice. Providing no reading at this point, merely a suggestion which I spent hours taking notes from, and still made the lowest passing...
