Working with Aaron at Color Alchemy was an absolutely fantastic experience. I wanted a partner in the process who could capture my ideas while bringing their own wisdom, expertise, and creativity — and I got so much more than that. Not only is Aaron an artist, but he’s also a kind and considerate collaborator. From the first moment we worked together, Aaron was communicative and thoughtful, giving me the opportunity to provide input for every aspect of the ring — from the stones and their cuts to the layout and prongs. I had no idea before this how many elements went into crafting a ring. But he made the process so easy and fun! He shared images of all of my options and renderings at every stage. I even got to have my partner’s teen sibling involved by helping to pick stone cuts, as Aaron shared such detailed information. He crafted a stunning 18k yellow gold ring with a custom cut purple sapphire (“Heavens Piercing Drill”), diamonds, and rubies. The style has a bit of a snowflake or celestial feel. When I proposed, my partner cried for half an hour straight. She absolutely loves the ring and how it incorporates her favourite colour sapphire with rubies to reflect her mother, but most of all that so much care was put into its creation. She started laughing through the tears when I told her the name of the custom sapphire cut, as I told her it’s some sort of nerdy anime reference that I wasn’t sure she knew — she thought for a moment and then realised she did know exactly what it was referring to and thought it was hilarious. The ring is unbelievably beautiful, meaningful, and special. She has gotten so many compliments! Having the opportunity to work with a queer designer has also been wonderful. I didn’t have to worry about whether my jeweller knew we were a queer couple. I cannot recommend Aaron enough (and I already have to other queer couples here in Ireland!).

Aaron helped me create a pink sapphire engagement ring – I am certain this ring would not be this perfect or unique if I had just gone to my local jeweler. I went into this process with minimal knowledge of gemstones and jewelry. In the beginning, I posted some videos on reddit of stones my local jeweler had shown me – I wanted to know if they were a fair price for the quality. Aaron messaged me and explained why the stones were not a fair price and what their flaws were – things I had not noticed before. I decided to take Aaron up on his offer to help me find the perfect rectangular pink sapphire for the ring. Aaron found several stones for me to look at and eventually we found a perfect color and precisely cut sapphire from Sri Lanka. We had the stone sent to the GIA for testing to confirm its authenticity. The transaction of purchasing the stone went perfect, we used PayPal. When it came to designing the ring, I gave Aaron the criteria that the ring setting be a solitaire design with vintage looking prongs. Aaron directed me to some ring designs for inspiration, and we produced the design for the ring you see pictured. Aaron designed the setting to flawlessly fit the sapphire we had purchased. I am so thrilled with the results and the whole process of creating this ring. I cannot thank Aaron enough for making this one-of-a-kind ring become a reality. I hope to work with Aaron again on future projects! The ring is a 2.08 carat octagonal step cut purplish pink sapphire, natural unheated set on 905 Platinum using Techform HIP Casting. Thank you Aaron!

Aaron made a beautiful engagement ring and wedding ring in the styles that my partner and I had sent him. When we asked him on possibly polishing out a chip in a sapphire that I had found and otherwise loved, Aaron offered to source a similar stone without a chip -- and he found one that was absolutely perfect with the color, quality, and carat I wanted. After showing us the first draft of both rings, I ask for a shift in the orientation of one ring to fit more closely against the other -- and he drew up another draft accommodating the change. After receiving the rings (and loving it!), we asked Aaron on recommendations for resizing the ring down a quarter size, which he was able to walk us through. All of this done between us in CA and Aaron in NY. The resulting rings are more beautiful than I thought possible, and photos can't do them justice.

If you have been looking for a unique piece of jewelry that suits you and you can't quite find what you're looking for, check here. Color Alchemy is a hidden gem in the sometimes-confusing world of jewelry.

Is there a gemstone shape or cut you imagined in your head, but can't find? Do you love old-mine cuts or vintage styles, but prefer lab diamond instead of mined (but, like me, still want the vintage character of an antique old mine cut stone)? Are you a fan of stones like Oregon sunstone or scapolite, which aren't typically found in an average jewelry store? Looking for faithful reproductions of Georgian "memento mori" rings? Color Alchemy has all of this, and more. It's amazing to see a creative jeweler who follows their passions and still manages to provide incredible pieces at reasonable prices!

Aaron's service is exceptional! He responds to any inquiry in a timely manner. Color Alchemy Designs meets the customer where they're at and provides accurate, straightforward information. Shipping is fast and easy. You will receive exactly what you expect. (Actually, what you receive will probably exceed your expectations!)

This is a jeweler who takes pride in his work and wants to give customers an excellent product at a fair price. I'll definitely...
