Bought 2 pieces of pellet stove pipe from these people, which included a 45 degree elbow. In putting the pipe together on my stove I had noticed a brown gritty oily substance around the joint of the elbow which looked to be a creosote build-up that someone had tried to wipe out from the inside of the pipe and left some of the residue behind. When you're spending $50+ on a small piece of piping, you certainly don't want what looks to be a previously used item, so I took the piece back, not to get a refund, but simply exchange it for another piece. Well, I couldn't believe what I was hearing! This guy Mark, apparently one of the owners, VERY irately insisted that it was MY stove that created the "dirt" in the pipe AND that I also damaged the "o"ring seal on the inside. I asked him if he was saying that I was lying to him, and I said that I couldn't believe how he was treating a customer who spent money at his establishment. Again, I had stated that I wasn't asking for a refund, just an exchange for another part. At that point, he went "storming off" to the supply room, I assumed to get another part. A few minutes later, he returned with a whole box of the same part, only to show me that they ALL had the same "residue", that he then said, was machine oil from the manufacturing process. So, he himself didn't realize this, and had BLATANTLY accused me of lying to him when I stated that it wasn't my stove that created the residue. And when I had asked him to show me where he said that I damaged the inner "o"ring seal, he said, "Oh, it looked like it was damaged, but it was just more of the "residue". So... NO apology for the RUDENESS; the ACCUSATIONS; and the TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL treatment of a PAYING customer. All of that HASSLE over a simple request for an exchange of a "small ticket" item. I was reading through some of their reviews, and it looks to me like you only get treated "decently" if you spend $5000-6000. I am getting ready to upgrade the wood stove I have in my kitchen, but now I would rather travel an hour away to purchase from another dealer instead...
Read moreSpoke with Mark at the home and Garden show in Middletown NY last Spring (2014) to ask about pellet inserts. We set up an appointment and Mark came out to the house to look at our zero clearance fireplace and determined an install could be possible. We decided on the Travis Lopi AGP insert and scheduled the installalation. The crew came out as scheduled and on time, they were courteous, efficient and friendly and the job was done that day. They stuck around to give me a walk through on operation and routine maintanence. It's been a year now since the install.. we went from 3 + tanks of oil a season to less than half a tank (mainly for DHW) and the house instead of being 65 deg when we were home and set back to 58 while out, was kept a toasty 70 to 72 deg in spite of the unusually frigid winter we had this year. I heated the entire upper living area (1600 sq ft) in our bi-level home, 3 BR open floor plan kitchen LR and DR with a vaulted ceiling on about 2 bags of pellets a day. I did the math and even with oil at 2.50 a gallon at one point we still were saving money and I can't emphasize this enough, were far wamer with the stove.
Mark and Holly and their crew are always ready to answer any questions and assist if needed. Nice to see a familyowned and operated business these days that stands behind their...
Read moreMy wife and I purchased a Hot Springs "Flair" tub from Northstar Energy in August of 2015. This has been one of the most graifying AND satisfying purchases that we have ever made. We had visited multiple hot Tub dealers and were left unimpressed by the high-pressure sales approach used by all of them. Then we met Holly at Northstar. She provided us with a low-key, informative sales approach without any pressure. She answered all of our questions and personally made sure that our order was correct and delivered on the date promised. The installation team was extremely professional, competent and friendly. They made quick work of installing our hot tub and they did a thorough clean-up of the area prior to leaving. They also provided us with a beginner's in-service on how to operate our tub. We were using it that same day. This was followed-up by a full in-service provided by the staff at the Northstar showroom. The staff at Northstar has been extremely helpful in making sure that we are getting the greatest hot tub experience possible. Hot Tubbing is not just an activity... it is a lifestyle. I recommend Hot Springs spas and the team at Northstar Energy to everyone. Let Holly and her team help you into a new hot tub... you won't be...
