Hickory Hills golf course has made it to the top tier of my personal favorites. The price is great, the starter is knowledgeable, the facility is well maintained. But most importantly… they’re good honest people. I got a phone call on Wednesday morning at my office from the club house at Hickory Hills. They asked me if I was missing something dear to my heart from my previous round at the course. I couldn’t think of anything I had left behind. Winds up I left MY ENTIRE BAG IN THE PARKING LOT. Every club, boxes of balls, jackets and tees. MY WHOLE BAG 🤦🏻♂️. The kind staff at Hickory Hills found a receipt in my bag. Googled my name. Found the phone number of the place I work. Read moreThe course has an ok layout, but it was in absolutely awful condition. It’s the middle of August. There’s no excuse for that.
The tee boxes barely had any grass, on some holes it was difficult to tell the fairway from the rough, the bunkers had more rocks than sand and the greens were terrible.
Speaking of the greens. Probably the worst I’ve ever played. I feel like they were trying to make them challenging but just had weird humps all over. Getting a solid read on those greens is impossible.
I’ll never play this course again. Especially with courses like Great Gorge and all the Crystal Springs courses 15-20 minutes away for around...
Read more$20 to walk after 12 is fair. You get a good workout with all the hills. The conditions are so so at best. Needs it to rain for a month straight to fill in bare spots and get rid of crab grass. Again, for $20 I can't complain too much. People mentioning bunkers (here or anywhere this year so far) is unfair as no golf course is providing rakes during the pandemic, so it serves no purpose for a course to maintain. Just drop nearest point and save your wedge from rock damage and move on. Stony Ford is better all around...
