It’s fascinating how a review by Allison Lapin of an active orchard barely touches on the apples or the centuries-old heirloom trees you can drive right up to and pluck fruit from. Instead, the real heartbreak here seems to be the $40 entrance fee—because clearly, the whole point of the visit is to stroll around the orchard and soak in the free ambiance, right? You are upset that the farm charges for entry, much like a movie theater charges for tickets even if you're just there to enjoy the ambiance, and not to see the film. The fact that you’re unsure of the apple prices suggests you might not have ever actually bought any—perhaps you’ve been too focused on the pizza? Just like Allison Lapin, I’m also life term visitor, and can tell that the price for a bag of apples at Maskers has a modest increase of $6 in three year period, and currently is at $39.95 for a half-bushel of apples (and yes, that includes the apples you picked, all-you-can-eat apples while there, free picking bags, free parking, free bathrooms, roads, and a helpful staff) is a pretty great deal considering you're visiting a place that, believe it or not, revolves around farming and growing those apples. I’m sure, maintaining the orchard, its trees, roads and bathrooms, keeping necessary insurances, paying staff, and—oh yes—ensuring that Allison and Karen have a pleasant day out, comes with costs that pizza just doesn’t cover. Coming to a farm where the owners’ livelihood depends on the sale of apples—yes, the actual purpose of the visit—without wanting to pay seems a bit... well, bold. But hey, why pay for apples when you can wax nostalgic over the days when pizza was the star of the show? And yes, Maskers apple farm is probably not the place to go if you're on a quest for bargain pizza slices. For that, I hear Sam's Club has you covered with their budget-friendly pizza palace, where slices are big and prices are low. Though, spoiler alert, even they don’t let you in for free. Allison Lapin, it’s unfortunate that your cherished tradition of enjoying something for nothing is being “broken.” But I am confident that those who visit Maskers to actually experience the apples and century old farm, rather than complain about pony rides and pizza slices, will find the tradition...

I've been coming here for 25 years, last time I visited was in 2022 and thankfully I checked the website before making the drive this year and also calling to confirm the information. Owners changed, now it's not the same. It was really sad to know the memories I had of this place are no longer. The friendly guys who greet you when entering, giving you many plastic bags for the apples, not feeling the PRESSURE to buy $40 bag of apples?? We would come with multiple cars too and we would have to pay 40$ PER CAR?? what is to be with the bigger families who can't all fit in one car? Pennings is cheaper and many other places in the area accommodate better!!

I'm fully aware of pricing rising , but for me and I know for a lot of others who really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place, will not go here anymore cause the memories of when it was better will be ruined. It was amazing spending hours having a picnic and eating the apples while there but because we were not forced to buy a bag, we did it anyway cause we always had a good time. We always purchased a bag all these years going. They could have inforced a different entry price maybe to just enter? If someone didnt wanna buy a bag. They could still have made money but also pleasing the old customers that used to come. A set price to enjoy the fields and eat apples and then if you wanted to buy a bag just pay the difference? But the new owners are really that money hungry? Can't eat apples for free anymore? It was really the only place for the longest that was all about family, the experience of it. It's really sad.. I wish I went the previous year to enjoy it one last time before the owners changed.

Regulars who used to go beware, not the same as what you'd remember. I heard a bar was opened?? Me, personally will just go to Pennings Orchard. A lot cheaper and food, drinks, are great. Really sad to say Goodbye to a childhood favorite. They really could have just done it all differently, they could have made money that they wanted without ruining the integrity...

Awful awful awful … why am I paying 16$ for 1/4 bag of apples when I had 4 apples and wasn’t allowed to put them in my boyfriend and his brothers bag??? That’s ABSURD!!!!!! And when I asked if we could put the apples in with that bag they told us no and charged us for 1/4 of a bag that wasn’t even 1/4 or even close to 1/4 … disgusting and insane. I won’t be back next year after 6 years of coming. Highly disappointed.

Update as of 9/24 - It’s absolutely outrageous to suggest that I’d be STEALING apples and no one CLAIMED anything so stop INSINUATING and ASSUMING things. It’s completely ridiculous to suggest that I was stealing when these apples were clearly identified in a bag, and said bag was CLEARLY PRESENTED at the time of check out! Paying that much for 4 apples is absolutely ridiculous, and that's what I was trying to convey, and the fact that you have absolutely made an inaccurate assumption that I was stealing is a deliberate defamation of my character and solely for the purpose of me asking a question?? There were absolutely no apples lying around without a bag, so for you to make such a ridiculous assumption that they weren't in a bag is utterly mindless and pathetic. It's completely illogical that you would suggest it was a theft attempt. That kind of accusation is not only misleading but also a desperate attempt to justify your immature and pathetic response. Instead of making an effort to retain a 6-year customer, you imply that we're thieves. Really elaborate. You have completely lost my service and my family's service, and I will never recommend you to anyone. I will make sure everyone knows what kind of business you run. And if you wanna talk about inaccuracies in things how about the inaccuracies in your response? It is NOT free admission if you’re charging 1 bag per car? That defeats the purpose of FREE admission. Your claims are invalid and straight assumptions. And I find your statement suggesting that I was stealing actually...

Sooo I decided to take the kiddies on a last minute apple picking trip…. Just so happen that we were able to pick some pumpkins too😂I was soo suprised at the quantity of apples that were still available especially since we went there literally the day before Halloween. We missed out on the 🍏’s but that was fine. The haunted house was $10 and the apple maze was free. We will definitely visit again … not to mention this is located only a hr away from NYC 🫶🏿 #maskerorchards #thingstodowithkidsnyc #funinnyc #fyp #cheapthingstodowithkids #havingfunonabudget #kidactivities #nyc #bigsisterlittlesister #coolauntievibes #applepickingnewyork
