Was really looking forward to spending time with the family here, but very disappointed by the experience with the owners. Since we drove 1hr to find that the orchards were closed (this is not the reason for the negative review), we decided to make the most of it and spend some time shopping in their store, trying the homemade ice cream and then checking out the petting zoo. Right next to the petting zoo there are plum trees from which another family were picking (the orchards are further out) so my older family members thought these were accessible and started to pick. There were no signs stating to keep out or not to pick, and as I mentioned, another family had been there for a while so they thought it was okay.
Turns out it was not. Which is fine to let us know, except the owner (pictured in orange shirt) starting screaming obscenities at us rather than trying to understand what had happened. We were more than happy to pay for what was picked, but he kept accusing us of trying to steal and not understanding English (I do wonder how he would have acted if we looked different).
This picture was taken right as he was mocking my brother in law who was trying to explain (in perfect English) what had happened, and even apologize for the mistake, and he responds with âblah blah blah you donât understand English? Youâre not welcome here- get OUT of here!â He screamed this repeatedly telling us to get out. His partner later joined in with âyou guys have been here for an hour.â So are we not welcome here even though you told us we could peruse the petting zoo and shop? Your orchards were closed and we still supported your business by buying from the shop, ice cream stand and petting zoo. Didnât even get to use the animal food purchased because I was scared he was going to do something if we didnât leave the petting zoo.
This could have been a decent experience despite the circumstances, but it was made a 1000 times worse by the ownersâ mannerisms. Does it hurt to start a conversation respectfully and give people the benefit of the doubt? Or do you reserve this for...
Read moreHad the best time going fruit picking this past week! We got there bright and earlyâparking and directions was super easy and clear. Same goes for as you walk through the orchard!
The staff was nice and helpful, even letting us know that there may still be some strawberries lingering around in their patch despite their peak season being over! While walking towards the blueberries and raspberries, we checked and well, found tons of strawberries! Yay!
It was a very nice experience being able to pick a variety of fruit and veggies. Strawberries, raspberries, cherries, blueberries, snap peas, and garlic was available. Peaches will be, soon! As a local, I canât believe I didnât come here sooner, but Iâll definitely be back.
All the produce looked gorgeous and so healthy! Afterwards, safe to say it all tasted DELICIOUS and was so reasonably priced! All that fruit for $17 with a $5 dollar entry fee? Yes please!
We also checked out their store and got some ice cream there. A little kitty, I think by the name Junior (this was a few days ago, apologies if wrong) walks around the store. He was very cute, friendly, and kept to himself. I got myself some cookies while I was there and they were great, too. It reminds me a lot of Pennings store, a little smaller, but less chaotic (because pennings is a bit more busy due to it being on the main road and popularity of the restaurant/plant selection)âbut I did also come at 9/10am haha.
I didnât get the ice cream, but was told it was great! They have tons of flavors and 2 vegan flavors that looked greatâ-vanilla and strawberry. The woman at the counter was very nice too. She answers the phones and spoke kindly from what I heard. The other woman, Bryn, at the register was very kind as I checked out my cookies.
Also, what they post on Facebook (thatâs how you find out if the orchard is open and what is able to be picked and how much) is 100% accurate!
Overall, a beautiful orchard, drive, and fun time! Iâll be...
Read moreI like that they hand out maps telling you what fields are ready to be picked. Although I don't think they're that their maps are accurate, they do give you the lay of the land. I like that they ask you to recycle the maps and give them out to other people once you finished using them and don't just throw them in the garbage. They have carts available(apples are heavy) and other things to facilitate your "fall harvesting" experience.
When we were there, the strawberries & tomatoes had already finished! We did see eggplants There was a lot of Napa cabbage and a little bit of broccoli but most of the broccoli look like it went to seed.
The apples were absolutely amazing! They also have beautiful Asian pears and Bosc pears. The view from the fields is majestic. It's a spiritual experience, truly beautiful. It's $5 to get in per person, you each get a $3 chip! Don't lose it because they're not going to honor it unless you hand it back to them when you make your purchase. We live in New York City and pay $1.29 a pound for apples. The apples here were $2.99 a pound in addition to the entry fee. You pay for the experience of breathing fresh air looking out over a bigger sky and the opportunity to eat the most wonderfulest thing in fall... Apple Cider donuts! They're $13 a dozen $8 for half dozen. They're tiny...yep they're small but they're delicious! If you can't control yourself you should only buy one. It'll cost you a $1.50. They have a little store. I bought some local honey (& shhhhhhh donuts). I found their staff very helpful and polite. It was organized.
We went in the early afternoon there was no line The sun wasn't blazing. We also bought apple cider. The quart was gone before we were out of Warwick! Wholesome...
