Breathtaking views and a rewarding hike! Blackhead Mountain is a hidden gem in the Catskills. The trail is challenging but manageable, with stunning scenery and peaceful forest surroundings. The summit offers incredible panoramic views that make the climb totally worth it. Well-marked trails, fresh mountain air, and pure nature—perfect for anyone who loves a good outdoor adventure. Highly recommended!

Had a great winter hike up blackhead Mountain in 20° weather. The temperature kept the ground packed but near the top it was so steep that even micro spikes couldn’t keep my feet from slipping a little bit. Use my backpack as a sled on the way down for some fun! Not much of you on top but on the way down had a nice view of the neighboring mountain. Saw a few fellow hikers on the trail.

Difficult to climb up using Batavia kill trail when the trail is icy. You may want to use it for coming downhill by sliding carefully. Excellent hike...
