Small but friendly Y branch. Equipment is beginning to age and will need to be upgraded soon. The branch is very small for a community expanding rapidly. Great for Silver Sneakers and those wanting limited work out options. It in no way compares equipment wise to places like Crunch fitness but it is a short drive for TR residents and options are limited in the area. FYI, religious services are held there on Sundays and Sunday hours are limited.
Update: September 2025 Some equipment has been replaced with new models but no change in variety. Appears to have more personal trainers available for those who want training. Tried a great yoga class but studio space was small and it was way too close for comfort. This Y needs a major expansion. TR is growing fast and the housing development next to the Y is an additional 300 homes. Seems like TR branch is the poor sister in the Greenville YMCA hierarchy. Staff is doing a good job meeting diverse community needs with what they have but are severely...
Read moreWe got a Y in TR that is charging almost the same rates as the YMCA downtown. And yet all we have is a yoga/aerobics room and a fitness room with treadmills, etc. No dry sauna, no wet sauna, no hot tub, no indoor pool, no outdoor pool. AND to have a Path membership to be able to go to any of the Y's goes up to $70 a month for an adult membership, where it is only $61 at the main Y that has everything. The reason for that is that the Y has associated itself with the GHS Life Center, who the hell asked them to get involved in this, other than to jack up the monthly cost? AND the adults 19-26 only pay $31 a month. So what it boils down to is my demographic pays the absolute highest...
Read moreI went to the YMCA today for a training session, and I had a genuinely heartwarming experience. While I was working out, I met a young man named Little Yimmy who left a lasting impression on me. From the moment we crossed paths, he was incredibly kind and respectful. He went out of his way to help me unload my weights, and he did so with impressive speed and care.
But what stood out even more than his physical strength was his character. After our workout, he walked me to my car, making sure I got there safely. Such a simple gesture, yet it spoke volumes about the kind of person he is. In a world where courtesy can sometimes feel rare, Little Yimmy reminded me that true gentlemen...
