Rustic but charming winery in a farm setting in rural Montgomery County, Maryland. Far away from the hustle and bustle of Washington, DC (and even nearby Rockville, MD), and down a winding, narrow road and a narrow bridge, one finds this pleasant winery. Set among farm fields and the lush countryside, there are several buildings including a main tasting room where business is conducted. As locally-owned wineries have sprung up with some scale in recent years, people have gravitated to unique experiences close to (or far away from) home. In many of these cases, customers don't truly expect wine that's excellent unless they're located somewhere where that's truly common. Some customers like the Rocklands wine well enough that they become club members with allotments provided quarterly. This also allows for a slight discount for the tastings.

Among the standout aspects of Rocklands: -A staff that's welcoming and good natured. -Plenty of seating options including inside the tasting room and in a nearby barn as well as outdoors with some shaded from the sun. -Food trucks parked nearby. -Free parking about 50 years from the tasting room. -Charcuterie-type selections for purchase from a refrigerated section in the tasting room. Cutting board and knife are provided.

The wines are in the $30 range-ish and run the gamut from wines to reds as well as sparking and some other beer/wine hybrids.

There's no admission per se, but one will want to purchase either a bottle (bottles) of wine or try one of the flights to get an idea how/whether their wines align with a given palate.

As mentioned above, this location is all about the experience. When the weather is lovely, a glass or two of wine seems to pair quite nicely.

What could make it five stars? Better wine for one. While rustic is charming, some more elegant or comfortable seating options would be nice, perhaps a more upscale barn themed building...

I want to recommend Rocklands Farm Winery as the best location for a wedding. We had ours on August 16th, and it was stunning – a dream come true! The location looks just like something out of a magazine – every corner is so beautiful and picturesque, you can hardly believe you are a part of it.

Two years before our wedding we fell in love with the place, with their wines, and most of all with their flowers and bouquet arrangements. I knew I wanted to say “yes” under the arch with those exact flowers in that exact location.

That is how we had our perfect Estonian-Ukrainian wedding and met truly wonderful people – Anna, the unbelievably talented florist of Rocklands Farm Winery, and Jeni, the wedding and events manager, who showed us so much love, support, and care. These ladies made our special day even more special with their attention to every single detail, their creativity, and their heartfelt hospitality.

Another big thanks to the whole team behind the scenes – for the beautifully arranged tables, the perfectly served wine, and all the care we received.

It is not only a beautiful place with amazing wine and service, it is a place where people make you feel truly special!

I am absolutely certain we will celebrate many more occasions with you, Rocklands Farm Winery!

With deep love and gratitude, Yuliya and...

A+ Experience at Rocklands Farm Winery

I recently visited Rocklands Farm and Winery with a group, and we had an exceptional experience. Greg, the owner, gave us a detailed tour and took the time to answer all our questions about the winemaking process. We were impressed by how clean the winery was, especially considering it’s located on farm land.

The staff and guests were all incredibly friendly and polite, making the visit even more enjoyable. After the tour, we had a wine tasting with Greg, who explained each wine and the process behind it in a way that was both engaging and informative.

The farm itself is very family-friendly, with food trucks, farm animals, and plenty of children having fun. Even the bathrooms exceeded my expectations—they’re outhouse-style, and while I’m usually hesitant about outdoor bathrooms, these were extraordinarily clean.

I’m already planning another visit in a few weeks with family members, and I’m considering bringing a few groups back next Spring for a tour, tasting, and a chance for the children to learn from Greg about agriculture and farming.

I highly recommend Rocklands Farm and Winery for weddings, tours, wine tastings, and even community service opportunities for youth. It’s about a 31-mile drive for me, but well worth...
