It supersizes how some people who have a title of a RN can treat other as if they are beneath them or incompetent. I went to the emergency room inreguards to what I thought may have been the flu I know I was past that 48 hour mark I still had all the symptoms. They were extremely crowded and Super busy in the emergency room. Which no ones fault they finally after hour and half asked me to give urine sample. Placed me in room said a nurse would be with us well she didn’t get to come. The Doctor came in asked me questions explained my symptoms when they started and what fever reached. She said everything sound positive for the flu gave me some great information she also told me there wasn’t much more they would be able to other than give me something for the chest pain and body aches. Basically it was like having a really really strong Motrin she said that she would put that order in so I could get that . The nurse would be in soon well we waited 30 minutes still nothing or no one. The head pain was getting worse it was like hanging my head upside down it was seriously so hard to even sit up and coughing was started to hurt both my chest and my body as cough. Anyways I rang the buzzer on remote for a nurse nothing couple people walked passed the room we asked them 28 minutes later nothing. Then finally doctors asked me to another room to check my throat and ears I went back a 18 minutes after I was asked for my insurance information so I gave that half hour later I just wanted to go home wasn’t sure why I was there if there was nothing they were able too do I just wanted prictription for Motrin so rang buzzer agian. Finally a nurse walk in who looked like she had been busy her face was flushed but nonetheless as types in her computer she says they are extremely busy Monday mornings are jammed in the Er and she’s very busy so she’ll take the urine sample. She also needs to test my with nose swabs and after she’ll give me the shot. Which I didn’t know I was thinking we had to fill it so that was a nice surprise. We mentioned if we were able to go home since there nothing they were able to do so I could have some eat tea and soup an lay down. She said well the test results take anywhere from an hour or two. My boyfriend said well can you call us with it she really needs to go home. She said well this emergency room your supposed to wait but I can let the doctor know and we can call and can’t guarantee that we won’t get buzy and not call so you may have too. So she gave my shot in my arm told me last for six hours and the same thing it’s basically a really strong dose of Motrin. My boyfriend went to go out side to make food order outside because bad cell reception. I waited for half hour rang the button nothing no one was coming so I assumed I was allowed to leave. Well today 7:25pm the next day I call to see how the results were I was told by extremely rude women who was nurse that she’s never heard of such a thing and that my story was false and she results can take up 2 weeks but she can’t tell me anything on the phone. Then laughed and said well your paper work says you refused to stay left before results came in so that’s something you have to deal with there is nothing for us too do an follow up with your doctor. No joke in such rude manner im like is this a thing there with nurses ? So I tried to explaine to her story agiansaid why would she say that cause I’m still having trouble an I’m in sure I need to come back to ER. She said “ she wouldn’t say that I’ve never heard of anyone saying that so I don’t know where you got that from but I’m unable to answer anymore questions” like seriously Ive got so much time to waste an call an lie ?? Wow said I wanted to speak to someone above her she was much more informative as far thingsi can do like the flu can last up two weeks. They have rules which will not allow them to give exact information out. but told me if my breathing issues get harder definitely make appointment following day or go to Er. I thanked...
Read moreI had a good inpatient experience here and was treated with great care by a large team of doctors and nurses back in the summer. The reason I just dropped to 1 star was that my recent stay at the ER was beyond terrible .. I went to Trenton ER because I was having issues breathing after 1 week in with a covid infection. They didn't do ANYTHING for at least 2 hours or give me any kind of communication... they literally kept forgetting after telling them countless times that my covid was confirmed and that I was having trouble breathing. They did one Xray test in a 4 hour stay but never went over the results with me.. My xray was resulted for well over an hour with nothing from any doctor. If I ever asked for something that person would generally never return again and it would be like asking a wall for something, I would sit in the ER room for hours at a time with no updates whatsoever, eventually I just got frustrated and asked to leave and they had me sign a paper and that was that(this was one of the few things they responded with). I thought this was a regular discharge paper(as they did tell me my vitals were fine when I came in) but it was a paper saying I was leaving against medical advice(AMA). They didn't say a word about the paper I was signing(I wasn't feeling that well to read it but in hindsight should've), or say anything about my test results (or that I should stay).. In fact I was never given any medical advice. They just let me sign a paper that would make it so I'd end up risking having to pay the entire bill (possibly).. I would have stayed and finished treatment had I known that I had pneumonia!. I was never given an IV or blood draw of any kind .They never asked about what kind of medications I was on despite telling them I have Ulcerative colitis. . they didn't follow barely any legit medical procedures at all even not having a special area for covid patients or giving any sort of instructions for bathroom use.. maybe they really wanted to get rid of covid patients and hoped to get me out of there ASAP but this isn't a way to treat a patient and I hope that this isn't happening to future patients. I was never offered any drink/blanket or bed adjustment which would have made the experience better but understand they could've just been busy and didn't want to be near me. They didn't seem busy but I can't know for sure. I consider this my worse ER experience ever. When I called back to try to go back because I didn't know that I had left "against medical advice"(AMA). I was told (with attitude)that it was too late to do that. Had I known I had some form of pneumonia, I wouldn't have left but I had no idea until I saw the results at home online after the fact. I did not recieve any treatment whatsoever here and ended up having to recover on my own which was a scary process.. but I did not want to start a whole new ER process with the insurance unless I was really on the brink of death. I may try to wait longer next time before I ask to leave and I guess everything at the ER just takes many hours but I wouldn't go to Trenton unless there was absolutely no other choice due to the severe lack of communication. The problem is that both of my doctors do work out of Trenton so if I could go straight to inpatient I'd be back because that experience was very good, it was just the ER that...
Read moreI would not suggest coming here if you have a mental health crisis or suffer from major panic disorder. It's highly likely you will be treated as if you are seeking drugs.
So I recently ended up in a crisis situation that I desperately try and avoid through a constructive lifestyle. I end up calling 911 because I'm seeing 165 bpm on my pulse oximeter while lying in bed. I'm feeling dizzy and sweating. I just had a heart catheterization not three weeks ago for a low ejection force. When the EMT crew showed up they did a EKG which showed I was not having a cardiac incident. They also started an IV tube but did not inject any medication. The crew agreed that I should go to Corewell Trenton as it was the closest major hospital that can handle cardiac issues.
When I landed in the triage I explained my situation and they did another EKG. The hospital was a little busy so time in-between was a bit extended. Only as a person in a crisis level of anxiety can understand that your mind is your enemy. You need to do your best to stay calm. I'm a rather level person so I don't show that I'm deeply suffering. After about 15 minutes I'm moved over into ER proper.
My nurse promptly comes in the room and introduces herself and seems nice. They don't seem concerned about my high heart rate and do not hook me up to a monitor. I double check my pulse oximeter and I'm seeing about 135 bpm.
I rest in the hospital bed for about a half hour as registration comes in to double check my information. A little while later Dr. Joseph Michaelson comes in and sits down. I explain my situation for a third time as you do in the ER. As I tell my story the doctor seems distracted and uninterested. He looks around the room as if he is annoyed having to listen to my situation. He then asks me what is normally done when I'm in this situation. So I tell him that they do a cardiac work up and usually end up giving me a injection of Ativan between 1 to 3 mg. But I told him that I may need a short term stay to manage my crisis because If I'm coming to the hospital I'm unable to manage it at home. I also told him I have all the meds I need at home.
He leaves and the nurse comes back and informs me that the hospital social worker will be coming to see me. About 20 minutes later the social worker arrives and I have to yet again tell my story. This guy is not like any social worker I have ever interacted. He's a bit caviler and loose with the vocabulary but seemingly a nice guy. Again I tell him I may need a short term stay to work this out.
The nurse comes back a bit later and informs me that I will be discharged in a few minutes. She has a few pills with her to help me calm down. So I asked in disbelief I'm being discharged in this condition? And she just simply says yes. Then I ask what medication are you giving me? She says Atarax not knowing exactly what it was until I asked for the generic name. It's Hydroxyzine and I know exactly. So I say an antihistamine? She says no but I assume maybe she does not know the medication.
In the waiting room my heart rate climbs back up to 140 bpm. So I ended up going immediately to Henry Ford. I can't tell the full story because the text is limited in this review.
