This hospital is really as bad as the reviews say it is. Erica should be fired and Cindy as well my husband was admitted after the emergency room could not get a kidney stone under control. Once he was taken back to the room he would be staying in at 3am I brought some things for my husband to his room at at 3:30 upon me entering the room they said oh yeah you have to leave it’s our policy. I said where nobody in ED mentioned I would have to leave once he was moved i came back in twice through the ED entrance to bring things in and nobody said a word about this policy or that I would not be able to stay with him. They said that’s the policy you have to leave because he’s not dying. I said all patience are entitled to a visitor during this time in which I stated all of that in a calm tone I’m being talked down to told I don’t listen I’m ridiculous etc I pulled up the visitor policy on the website and showed both of them that as his spouse according to the website I was allowed to be at the hospital beyond the 9pm visiting hours, Erica and Cindy argued with me saying they don’t know anything about that and that they weren't going by that policy i said please show me in writing where the policy says that I cannot stay they said well i dont have it in writing and i said i do and it days i can stay i explained the problem with your "verbal policy" is it could change by the hour or day today its 9 tomorrow it could be 7 if you decide that's what you want to tell people. she got very upset spoke extremely unprofessionally to me and said she would speak to the charge nurse she ended up calling "security" to have me escorted out. the entire time i never raised my voice never cursed never got animated simply stated facts, due to it being middle of the night i left but after this whole thing i have never encountered such terrible and unprofessional people in the medical field. The way they spoke to me was disgusting their verbiage and complete lack of professionalism is insane I honest to goodness cannot believe they are NURSES with jobs with their behavior and the way they treat the families of patience. Do better for you and your family DO NOT GO TO TROY. After serious consideration, I’ve decided to share my experience with Guthrie’s hospital in Troy. Specifically their emergency room. I was hesitant about doing this but after a month of sleepless nights and incredible pain, I’ve decided to share my experience. After a number of sleepless nights and days of fever and chills, I went to the troy hospial emergency room at 9am on july 10. I talked with the emergency room doctor about my symptoms…night sweats, chills, joint pain, along with the tell tale lyme rash. The ER doctor immediately checked me for covid and had my chest xrayed. He also had a series of blood tests performed. After about 45 minutes he told me that I don’t have covid and my lungs look good. He also said I don’t have Lyme Disease. I left and a few days later got all my blood tests back…all with ‘flags’. Despite the bad blood tests, I never heard from the ER doctor. At that point, my health got progressively worse. I was in so much pain, I couldn’t sleep or eat. Finally, a month later I went to the Guthrie in Sayre. Upon looking at the picture of my rash taken at the hospital on July 10th, the doctor told me I have lyme disease and that the ER doctor in Troy should have put me on anti-biotics. They did a blood test to confirm the diagnosis. Needless to say, I am totally disgusted with the pathetic manner in which the ER doctor at Troy handled my diagnosis and total lack of follow through. Started off good turned into bad. Was told we could bring our pet inside ( helps with wifes panic and my ptsd) after spending money to get items to make pet comfortable inside....was told pet had to leave. ( after seeing workers covered in dog hair which im alergic to) Was harassed hourly to remove litter box, which I did, yet some brain dead idiot had security come in and harass us about the litter box that was already gone. Told us to remove it. Then keep getting harrassed by staff to bring in personal bipap machine that costs over $16999 to replace if damaged or broken. When i told them it was packed away in the car and would take hrs to get....was told " well we need it. ( hospital has a bipap in the room) With back and neck injuries myself unloading the car then reloading just to unload and reload again when equipment is available in the hospital is ignorant. Im a family member NOT AN EMPLOYEE, don't order me around or harass me unless you want a harassment lawsuit. If I see any animal come inside that will also lead to a descrimination lawsuit. I think we wouldve been better off traveling another few hrs to one that doesnt harass a disabled veteran family member of a patient in front of the patient and talk down to the patient.
