My name is Matt Gentry and President of Greater Atlanta Memorials. I would like to share my experience with Melwood Cemetery and their staff on my behalf. On June 6, 2023 I arrived at their location to do a inscription on a monument that a Family had contacted and contracted me to do for them a few weeks prior to do for their loved one on a Monument . Upon doing Inscriptions or Monument work we have to inform the cemetery of the work to be done and also show that we are licensed, bonded, insured and registered with the Secretary of State which we do and they have on File. The phone call was made to their office and told them my plans on coming out the next day to do the inscription. When I arrived the next day, I was in the process of unloading my equipment to do the inscription for the family’s loved one and a golf cart pulled up. A sales lady and a superintendent by the name of Scott. Scott jumps off the golf cart and fast walks towards me in a threatening manner asking what I was doing?. I informed him what I was doing and the necessary call was made to the office prior to my arrival. He then walks back and sits on the golf cart. After a few seconds, I simply glance back down where he was seated in the golf cart and in a threatening manner he ask“What am I looking at?”He then proceeds to jump back off the golf cart, where he gets within inches of me and starts with yelling, verbal threats, racial slurs and spit hitting me in the face with the close proximity he was from me from the yelling. This is done as a intimidation method as we are a outside Monument Dealer. After the situation dissolved, I filed a report with Dekalb county police. This was the most disrespectful and unprofessional behavior to say the least. I say this to the families, that may have encountered intimidation or disrespect on behalf of the staff. Or damage to any Monuments or Markers due to the neglect of Melwood Grounds personnel. There are laws set fourth and guidelines that I urge any family member with any concerns to contact the Secretary of State Cemetery division and file the necessary complaints and to review the laws that could apply to any concern you may have. Sincerely,...

Read moreMy Parents have a crypt here. And Perpetual Care. The director has parked a broken down ( his words) scissor lift sometimes in front of , beside or near their crypt. It has been there close to a year. It fills with trash , cigarette butts and spiderwebs. When asked to move an unsightly and disrespectful piece of machinery, I was told it was not my call and I could not tell him where to park his things. I have launched a complaint with the SOS office. Such a rude and disrespectful man he's is. The office will give no info on new owners. Just this disrespectful thing . Don't place your...
