Indian Mountain Lake Civic Association — Local services in Tunkhannock Township

The territory is pretty nice, and has some good amenities like 2 pools, tennis, and basketball courts, but, that does not include a gym, which would be awesome. The community is AirBnb friendly, and visitors do not always follow the rules, like fireworks, which are prohibited. Neighbors are mostly great! But of course, some of them suck, always looking at what you are up to, and then complaining that you have too much of whatever, sounds like the jealous type. And some drive a straight-piped V8 pickup at 6 am as if it's a "sports car" (That stopped recently, pretty sure that car is done). They used to have a good trash pickup with recycling straight from the house. I guess many boomers didn't use recycling as it was supposed to, so now we have to drive our trash to the trash pick up that is always filled to the top, and now that chore is even more miserable. And on top, if you want to get rid of a large item, you can only do it once a month. But good luck finding that huge container. I was looking for it for months. And when I did find it, turns out I wasn't allowed to drop stuff off, had to get permission for the next month... 🙃 crazy... Other than that, it's a secure community, gated, with recently great security that actually look intimidating, not like the previous one, driving small nissan suv. But when the right property shows up for sale, I'm out of here. Until then, I'm stuck with what I have, which isn't...

The so called "board" are a bunch of corrupt thieves who make up their own rules to extort residents and guests of their hard earned money. I dont understand how they get away with it so much without being sued or locked up. Don't live here. They charge an obscene amount for dues but don't maintain the community and don't plow when it snows. But of course their own homes look beautiful. The only thing they do is pay for new gates, that's it. They also will try to scam you out of money (500 dollars to be exact) even after you paid an unneccessary fine by blocking you from calling in passes. Then when you call them and ask them why they conveniently say it was a "mistake. We are sorry". No, you just got caught harassing innocent people. Enough with the games. They need to be removed and charged with fraud. Not a good place to live do...

We've lived here for three years, and honestly, I wouldn't recommend moving in. It's dangerous—people speed through the neighborhood, and it's not safe even when you're walking with your kids. Every day, my dog and I almost get hit by drivers distracted on their phones. On top of that, people let their dogs relieve themselves anywhere in the trails and parks without cleaning up. There’s barely any security, just a couple of people driving around and maybe three or four armed guards. No one is monitoring the speeding or anything else.
