Played here on a Monday, $25, cart included. Guys in the Pro Shop were very nice. This used to be one of my favorite courses in the area, but have been hearing bad reports about the course conditions over the last couple years. But I figured for $25, it was worth a shot. Sadly, the reports were true, & even the $25 Monday special is not that great of a bargain, & if you pay the regular rates, you will not be a happy camper. Most of the bunkers look like they haven't been touched in years...full of weeds & dried baked mud. We played free drop out of bunkers. Tees & fairways were so -so, & that's not a big deal to us. We played "preferred lies" when necessary. The real issues is the greens. All of them were very slow. VERY slow. And throughout your round, you will find some that are all green (or various shades of green) & their only problems are lack of speed & a little bumoy. The other greens however have major issues. Some areas are not completely dead, but have little tufts of grass scattered around in the dead areas, so your putt rolls like its going down a plinko board. Others have areas that are just completely burnt up & have no grass. When faced with a putt through these areas, we just picked up our ball & found the nearest spot where we could putt over grass all the way to the hole. It's a shame to see this course in this condition, & I hope they can restore it the course it was a few years ago. As long as you go prepared for the conditions you'll find right now, it's (al most) worth the $25 Monday deal, but...
Read moreIron Horse Golf Course has a lot of potential, but currently, the course conditions leave a lot to be desired. The fairways are rough and full of divots, making for a choppy and inconsistent playing experience. Bunkers are either rock-hard or slushy with poor drainage, and the greens are dry and overly firm, showing clear signs of not being properly watered. Tee boxes are uneven and appear poorly maintained.
The short game area is very limited—it only stretches out to about 40–50 yards, which isn’t ideal for meaningful practice. The driving range is also surprisingly expensive for what you get.
That said, Mondays and Tuesdays offer an amazing deal: 18 holes with a cart for just $25. That price is unbeatable and honestly makes the round worth it, even with all the course's shortcomings. If you're looking for a budget-friendly round and can overlook the conditions, it's still worth checking out...
Read moreMy son and I enjoyed an 18 hole round of golf today at Ironhorse Golf Course. The gentleman in the pro shop was super nice and accommodating as we admittedly showed up a couple minutes late for our tee time. The course itself was in pretty good condition considering the time of year and the lack of rain. The greens were sensational though and were the highlight of the course. If I could make a recommendation, it would be that the 100, 150, 200 and 250 markers be cleaned off and made to be more visible. We struggled at times knowing our yardages in relation to the green and it would have increased our speed of play without a doubt. If not for the yardage markers I would have rated the course 5 stars. Ironhorse is challenging but fair and should be on everyone’s list of courses to play...
