I've been going to Barrick's tire for years now, so I was OK with the farm tractor grave yard, the mud pit driveway and the rudest of snot nosed owner's son tire mechanics. I always saved a significant amount of money and time by driving out there for tires. These guys will spit tobacco on your shoes if you even resemble someone from the city, but they get your tires installed very quickly and would never think about pulling the same stunts that happen at the national tire chains. I always went to Barrick's to avoid the fraudulent list of repairs that you get from the national tire giants. It seems that the Barrick's just want you off their property as soon as they're done installing your tires, so if you are thin skinned in any sense you'll probably be traumatized by the time you leave Barrick's tire.
This time going to Barrick's tire I called ahead for tire size availability as I always do, and to get a price over the phone. His tires were priced $10 more than the average tire store's fliers but there's no B.S. out at Barrick's. No added charges once you get your tires installed. No fraudulent list of 10 different repairs you need or don't need on your car. You just pay what you've been quoted and then high tail it off their property with a slightly bruised ego.
This time I was quoted a price over the phone, then drove all the way from between York and Harrisburg to Barrick's, again to avoid the usual run around you get at the chain stores. I got all the way out there and they raised the price by $10 per tire over what they quoted on the phone, then questioned who I spoke to on the phone for the quote, citing it was just the owner and some woman there that morning. I was upset, thinking the last honest (but crude) Tire store has now become just another dishonest tire store. I had already drove all the way out there, knowing I could get my tires while I wait so I begrudgingly agreed to pay the additional amount. The owner offered to split the difference with me and knocked off half the additional amount they were trying to squeeze out of me.
In the end I payed more than was quoted, and I think it's no longer worth going to Barrick's for tires. If I have to deal with getting screwed out my hard earned money, I'll go to the national tire chains where they screw you with a smile on their faces. Barrick's just lost another long time customer but I'm sure they don't...
Read moreSo we decided to come here because they offered the best prices on tires. Over the phone we were quoted THREE times a price of $69 for 60k mile tires. When we arrive we are told they are $79. We explained that we were quoted that price three times and no one cared. The woman at the front desk told us we could only get 50k mile tires at that price and continued to say in a condescending tone âI get how five can sound like six on the phone.â This wasnât our mistake. We called and confirmed THREE times. After paying and getting our car down to the garage, the mechanic had the rudest tone I could have imagined. He spoke to us like we had the IQ of a chair. Overall the longer we stayed the more frustrated we became. Terrible customer service. They did a fine job changing my tires but that doesnât change the fact that I made an hour drive specifically because their prices were so good, yet when I arrived they denied the quote they gave me three times. If youâre a softy this isnât the place for you, your feelings will be hurt by their attitude. Youâll also be upset by their...
