Mad River Farm Market — Local services in Urbana

Kinda a basic place. They did have a large menu. It was our first time there, and the experience could have been better, but could have been worse. I have zero idea what our waiters name is, but he spoke very quiet. It wasn’t that busy and he was still hard to hear. We ordered onion rings for an appetizer and for the price, there were very few. Pretty basic onion rings. My husband got wings, and I got a burger. Not all his wings were coated in sauce, but he said they were good, not great. The burger I first received was BURNT and honestly, pretty sloppily put together. Took a while to flag down our waiter, but he apologized and had the kitchen remake it for me. The remake was much better and they even gave me more fries. I really liked their fries, nice and thick cut, but not very crispy. The burger meat is pretty bland so make sure you get toppings. We were there for quite a while so I’m guessing they were understaffed but all the drinks available seemed tasty, we just didn’t get any. We probably will go back since there are a ton of great reviews. Their brunch menu was tempting so that will probably bring us back. First, slow service. Waiter took forever. Food took for ever and not very warm.

Server had no clue to portion sizes. He had no clue to up charges. He stated an up charge from fries to tots was “a couple bucks” ended up being $6.99 up charge. Brought a black and blue burger covered in horrible orange vinegary sauce, then he argued about all black and blue burgers come with “buffalo sauce”. I stated I never had a black and blue burger with “buffalo sauce”. Server shook his head and stormed off. Others at the table had orders messed up, like no ranch on fries but it came out smothered in ranch.

Ticket came out messed. He charged us full price for tots and said they came as appetizer replacing fries and pre measured. There was like twelve tater tots and charged me $6.99. That wasn’t what he told me. Nothing he said was as it came out as he stated it would.

Server snatched up the ticket and complained about fixing the bill and was shaking his head and complaining. Ended up a sweet tea, a mushroom and swiss and a very tiny portion of tater tots costed $20 and change. Needless to say , no tip due to waiters poor and aggressive attitude, not understanding up charges and...

The food is very good, but waiting an hour and 30 minutes is not. Our order was taken right away, beverages delivered promptly, but 20 minutes later we did not have appitizers, we asked what was going on, we were given an apology and told the kitchen had lost our order, but everything (chef salad and 2 italian subs and two appetizers ) would be right out , 20 minutes later we received the 2 appetizers. 30 minutes later our waitress come over asked if there was anything we needed, we said our meal, she said I'll check on it...this was going on while a group of 16 who ordered after us had received their food and were nearly finished eating. 15 minutes later and still no food, so we went inside to cancel our order. As we're were waiting for bill on what we did get waitress came out, said she was going to see if manager would comp us...5 minutes later she came out with our food in to go boxes and said whole meal was free.
