Cool place to stop and straighten yourself out after leaving The City or Oakland if you're traveling eastbound on I-80. Let it be understood that I have never occupied this historic landmark between the hours of 9am-12am. Let it also be understood that I have never seen more than 3 humans there at one time and most definitely have never ever witnessed a female on the grounds of this, sometimes peculiarly creepy,piece of real estate. I say this because there are a number of trails that go into tall brush areas and I definitely have not and will not ever venture to explore these trails as the presence of sexual protection items for the male species have been creepy enough to keep me from being curious. Formerly the old Chat n Chews this vista parking lot sits above what used to be a restaraunt during prohibition days which utilized a few natural caves below it that they would used to smuggle liquor up through into tunnels in their basement. While the restaraunt and tunnels are long gone the local homeless have moved into whats left of the cave and poison oak has reclaimed the rest but at night in the summer it gives on good bat...

What a lovely lookout! It provides you a gorgeous view of the Carquinez Bridge, San Pablo bay and Benicia. There were lots beautiful wild flowers blooming when we visited. It’s nice and quiet since not many tourists here. You can enjoy taking a nice snack or lunch break after a long drive on the bench. Enjoy the nice and peaceful moment there!
