I like to refer to it as "THE" Ohio Media School...It's a Buckeye thing. Let me start by saying the school is filled with doors of opportunities, and they are always revolving. After graduation, the school still allows me to use the studio and other equipment for my own projects. The instructors are women and men who are in the radio/tv industry currently themselves or have had years of experience prior, so they can keep you updated as the course goes on as to what new things to look out for and more avenues for you to pursue your career, yes a career as opposed to a job. The curriculum is designed for the versatile student or as like to refer to myself, the Swiss Army knife type of student. If you just want to run a camera then sign up for a college course that shows you all the exciting things about running a camera, "Boring". The Ohio Media School will show you how to operate behind the camera, in front of the camera, filming, editing, and everything you need to make your very own film, documentary, and/or movie. The resources are unlimited, Netflix was on the campus my very first day of class. The classes are a nice size so you can get detailed learning without much if any distraction, and the staff is always willing to work with you after class or non-class hours. You have to do the work and the school will challenge you to not only do your own projects but also to work with a team. Will you be the producer or the "Talent"? The choice is yours depending on how driven you are. Now I feel every great review deserves constructive criticism, so with that being said, some of the equipment is a little dated, however in my work after graduation, most of the radio stations look the same and I have not had a problem using or learning new equipment. "THE" Ohio Media School is built to make sure you succeed!!! Thank you so much for the new...
Read moreI can honestly say this has been and still is a wonderful experience to me. I don't know where I would be today if it wasn't for all the amazing people at the OMS Cleveland campus. Every time I needed help with anything whether it was personal or whether if it was regarding my school work I always had somebody to go to that would help me. I always know that I can come to anyone there about literally anything, they are so supportive and so Hands-On with all the students there and they genuinely care about each and every one of us. It literally is like a second home to me. This experience has been life-changing and continues to be life-changing I wouldn't be where I am or who I am today as well as who I am becoming without all of the support of all the people there. All of the instructors there have never let me down not once when I've needed assistance with a project or anything that I'm working on there's always someone there to help me and that's something I really appreciate the most because everyone there genuinely cares about you and your future. I wouldn't change the decision I made to attend this school for anything. I believe I made the right decision and choosing the right school for me and I am so glad I have found such an amazing place like this. I am motivated everyday by just being in that environment, it is so uplifting and it means a lot to me to be at a place that makes me feel the way that I do. I can't wait to graduate and come back for more classes that they offer here. I recommend this school for anyone interested in the media industry anywhere. They have so many outlets and so many opportunities...
Read moreWhen I started at Ohio Media School in July of 2019, I was right out of high school and really didn’t know what to expect. I will say I thoroughly enjoyed my experience there, from great teachers and classmates, it’s hard to criticize the people I came in contact with for those eight months. You receive a strong foundation of skills that prepare you for the Television and Radio industries.
It is a hefty price tag to pay for school, but as the saying goes: “You get out what you put in”.
I will say on the other side, there are many instructors that I did have that are not there anymore, which is definitely a bummer because they were great professionals as well as people. I’m not sure who they replaced them with, but I am optimistic they are professionals within the media industry.
The main program is for Radio and Television, with that being said, the program is better suited for someone wanting to enter those two fields as jobs there are jobs presented there.
If you want to learn videography/film, photography, or graphic design, you get a surface level introduction, so that is up to you on whether you feel your money is worth it or not.
I can’t speak of the emphasis programs, as I did not take any of them, but if it feels right for you to pursue, then go for it!
I attended and completed the program prior to the COVID-19 outbreak, so I cannot speak on the learning experience currently.
I’ll end it by saying this, do your due diligence, and if the school fits the goals you want to achieve, then...
