Really wanted to come here for mother's day gift to my mom after we experienced tulips in the Netherlands together years ago. I was seeing posts that the tulips were fading on their account but we were only able to go the last day they were open so I was a bit worried the money wouldn't be worth it ($23.00/ticket). When I saw posts that it would be half off until the last day because the tulips were fading, it was perfect and felt like it would be worth it to see what it's like for that price. I didn't get them at the time because my mom has trouble walking and I wasn't sure whether we'd be up for it day of. We did ultimately decide to go (I did call to make sure the tickets were half off and to ask how the tulips looked but no one picked up) and drove an hour to get there, when we got there the tickets were $23.00/person again and you had to use your phone to get them, you could not just buy them with a card at the event. It was 1.5 hours before they closed and people had also been allowed to pick tulips all day. When I asked about the 1/2 price they only said "that was a mistake" I felt a little upset because I knew my parents weren't going to want to/be able to do really any of the other activities. We went ahead and bought the tickets anyway since we had driven a while to get there. When we got there my partner and I realized the walk to the tulips might be a little difficult for my mom but did see some golf cart/other types of vehicles around and wondered if maybe there was a shuttle or anything to make it more accessible for people who aren't able to walk very far. My partner stopped someone and asked if there was a shuttle and the person said "I'll organize one right now!" so we did wait for quite a while for that person to come back but they weren't anywhere and it was getting later and I was feeling anxious already about there not being a lot of tulips. Me and my parents just started walking and my partner stayed behind to see if the person would show up. The person never showed up and my partner ran ahead to catch up with us. The tulips were pretty sad looking and not very impressive and my mom wasn't able to walk up to the ones that looked the best after walking to the tulips. We picked some but then walked back and my mom had to sit and rest on the walk back and I went to get us waters, and had to order the free waters online with a QR code. Something else my mom had been excited for was that we had assumed there may be tulip bulbs for sale in the shop but there were not. Mostly I'm just disappointed that the tickets cost so much for something they were admittedly saying was wilting/fading, especially for customers who were only able to make it for the last hour and a half of the last day when tulips were being picked all day. They should have stuck to the discount if they posted it on their social media, it's just so unprofessional to post something like that and then take it back. I don't know if the person who spoke to my partner about a shuttle was being sarcastic or if he just got busy and forgot, if he was being sarcastic it was incredibly rude. It's good to know now that this is not an accessible place to go for people who need accommodations and that they will upcharge for events that they have admitted to saying are not worth the price they are charging. I will probably not be back for further events here, I was not impressed with how this event was...
Read moreMake American Businesses Great Again!!
BUSINESSES EXIST TO SERVE CUSTOMERS. Without customers, businesses wouldn't exist.
Bad biz model all the way around. For almost the same $ kids can spend a whole day at an amusement park or water park!
It seems because this nation outsourced so much of its industry, we forgot how to run a business.
We have lived in several states and enjoyed various models of farms: CSAs, apple orchards, strawberry and pumpkin patches, U-Pick, cider mills etc. Not one of them charges to enter to view. They often offer free samples or courtesy goods for highlighted products (cider donuts, hot cocoa). They generate revenue with thier products, produce, handiwork, jams/jellies etc.
There is another NE farm that does the same as this place. Shame. Shame. Force you to use thier debit card and will not refund any balance.
I refuse to pay $66 dollars for 3 of us to wander fields, then have to pay more to purchase flowers etc.
I also refuse, as much as possible, to support American businesses that refuse to take cash. Forcing a payment method alienates customers.
The American way used to believe that the Customer was "always right" and served them as the rightful foundation, success and very purpose of thier existence. There was a deep gratitude toward customers who sustained the biz and helped them earn a living.
Demand drives supply, not supply drives demand. No demand, no need to...
Read moreWent to Nelson‘s farm last night noticed there was a cat digging in the trash very friendly cat followed us to our table seemed very hungry. We started feeding him. We are huge cat lovers. We have no problem with this. We started questioning if Nelson Farms feeds their cats. we didn’t finish our pizza we put it in the wagon. We went up to the barn as we were walking in the barn the three cats that live in the barn were climbing into our wagon trying to get our pizza to eat because they were starving!!!!! and one was pregnant We asked the boy that was selling the feed. Do you guys feed your You know what he said no They do not feed their cats. They live off of the food they feed their livestock I am utterly disgusted by this. To me this is animal abuse and neglect and if Do not want to feed them find them a good home and don’t tell me they’re farm cats because people feed their farm cats very well .They charged us $25 at the door for the tulip Fest to see dead tulips, but they can’t spend $25 to buy a bag of cat food to feed their cats and I have been telling people about my experience last night and they also are disgusted by this and I want you guys to know that we took the leftover pizza and we fed it to those poor babies that were starving Nelson’s Farms should be ashamed of themselves. This is not a family farm. They abuse...
