Boots and Scoops — Local services in Van Horn

Sir, this is NOT a Wendy's. Instead, this is a café that would be a welcome addition to any city and is an absolute gem to find in Van Horn! Thankfully it was a Monday so all of the local mom & pop Mexican restaurants were closed, which otherwise might have stopped us from digging deeper to find Boots and Scoops. It's in a small strip center next to a gas station and it was telling that utility linemen and Border Patrol were parked outside - they always know where the good eats are. We had sandwiches which were fresh, generous with ingredients and excellent. One of us had a toasted ciabbata roll which was the perfect texture for bread - easy to bite into but not soggy at all. And, we broke down and got milkshakes. Made with local, homemade ice cream. We almost turned around and went back for a second one! We waited perhaps three or four extra minutes than if we had gone to a Wendy's for custom created sandwiches and excellent dessert. The interior is also thoughtful for a café in uninspired building architecture. There's a great mural on the wall and they had decorated for the season. You can go to Wendy's in any city in the US any time but you can only go to Boots and Scoops during the day in Van Horn. Eat...

First time visit at VaN Horn and would have completely missed this place if it wasn't for word of mouth. The entire place was super cute and had a really nice vibe to it, from the decor to the cleanliness. The workers were extremely friendly and inviting and gave awesome recommendations. The menu is simple and straight forward which I liked because I have such a hard time deciding. I ended up ordering a sandwich with chips as well as a chai latte. The lunch menu comes with as side a pickle and fruit for $9 and the sandwiches are pretty big and hearty. I enjoyed my chai latte, it wasn't too sweet it was just perfect. I also ordered some ground coffee as they seem to be partnered up with a local roaster. Unfortunately, this time I didn't have time for ice cream but from what I saw they have plenty of flavors and delicious desserts that I need to go back and try. Overall the ambiance and the uniqueness makes this place a must visit for everyone passing through, I will definitely return next...

Ice cream is so good! Interesting flavors that change from time to time. Standard flavors are always there though. Staff is so friendly. Great prices too.

UPDATE: Came back here 4 days later when we were on our way home so we were able to have lunch this time. Food was AMAZING. I had the Desert Dip, and imo it's the best sandwich on the menu! Husband had the Texan, and my kids spilt the A-BLT and the Eagle. We all had the special cup of soup which was also delicious. You have got to...
