I googled Mod Boutique to get to their website and was surprised to see such poor reviews, so I figured I'd share my experiences so far. Mod is my go-to boutique! I've been buying from them for the last year or so and my closet seems to be slowly transitioning to all of their items.
The item photos can sometimes be misleading, so be aware of that - the model only wears shirts tucked into her pants and they don't show what it looks like untucked. I certainly don't think that's intentional, just her style (and she makes literally everything look good in the photos, so there's that).
There have been a couple times that the items I received looked WAY different since I wear my tops untucked. Especially for cropped or oversized shirts - you can't really gauge how cropped or how oversized it is in the modeled photos. There were some shirts that I didn't even realize were cropped because of how they were styled. I've started double checking the inseam lengths listed for each item!
I've had to make 3 returns for fit issues and, knock on wood, each one has been just fine. I don't mind the exchange-only deal since there are tons of other items I'd love to have. It's also really nice that the website is enabled to give you the option of initiating your return, then providing you with store credit that you can use immediately (before you even send your items back). Or to be sure you don't miss any return deadlines and end up paying for both orders, you also have the option of waiting until your items are returned and processed, then use the store credit to purchase your exchanges. I've done both and had no issues either way.
I also haven't had any issues with quality. I wash and dry my items the same as all of my other clothing and have noticed no differences.
Hope this helps! Thanks Mod for offering so many pieces that are exactly my style. I haven't found another boutique that nails my style like...
Read moreThis was the worst experience I've ever had with customer service I've ever had ordering online from any boutique. I wish I would have taken the time to read the reviews before wasting so much time and money order from here. First of all everything is "hand wash", which is not listed on the website. I would have never ordered 7 shirts if I had known that they were hand wash only. After several weeks, emails, phone calls, and waiting, and I was finally able to get "some" of my money back. After the owner tried to tell me how to do laundry. I'm 43 and have been doing my laundry for many years. I don't need help there, thanks! Luckily I had only washed one of the shirts that I was unaware was hand wash only, so it obviously shrunk to the size of a dolls shirt. And yes, owner lady, I use cold water and hang dry. I was finally able to get a return label that paid $6 for and another %20 restocking fee. So when it was all said and done I paid $80 for a doll shirt and two very cheap quality earrings that I could have gotten at Walmart for half the price. Buyer beware! Shop at any other boutique and you'll be better off. With reviews in the 2/5 range, you think she would address a few things. Like be open and label that your garments are hand wash only. Seriously, come on. I am also a small business owner, and I could never imagine running a business like this with so many unhappy customers. I figure out what needs to change and change it. That's how you succeed. I hope this helps someone else. This is the first review I have ever written by the way. That's how frustrating this...
Read moreWish I would’ve read the reviews before I purchased. This company has horrible customer service. I purchased a size small sweater. It was way too big on me so I went to exchange it. Since it was the smallest size I looked for something else to exchange it with. Every single thing I was even remotely interested in was out of stock or I couldn’t exchange it because there was such a limited quantity(they don’t hold items for exchange so if there is only a couple left in stock it doesn’t let you choose the item to exchange.) also, when you go to exchange it gives you items you can exchange for but doesn’t show price point of what the exchange amount is so you have no idea if you’re exchanging for the same value item. I emailed asking what to do since I wasn’t able to exchange for something else that i wanted and I was told to put the product I wanted in a note in the bag with the item I was returning but no guarantees. I instead ordered the items I wanted(my mistake I guess) and asked them to refund to my card. I was told no. First excuse was because I didn’t exchange for exact price(I spent MORE money on my second purchase). Second excuse was it was easier to refund to store credit than my card. Easier??!? I went back and forth and eventually was told that my request would be sent to management and management never reached out to me. They issued store credit instead with no further contact. Save yourself and don’t buy from...
