Kite's Supermarket — Local services in Vanceboro

I take 43 to and from work everyday!

I always ride by this place and see the bulk meat signs out front so today I decided to stop by.

While there I decided to buy in bulk, hopefully save in the long run and try them out.

The package was $129.99 and inside was 12lbs of ground beef, 6lbs of sausage and almost 7lbs of rib eyes steaks.

After doing the math I ended up paying about $12.50 per lb for the rib eye steaks.

Honestly I can buy little amounts whenever meat is needed and I would have spent almost the same exact amount of money and I wouldn't have to take the time to vacuum seal everything for long term storage in the freezer.

I was atleast hoping for a better bargain because I was spending so much and the way they have their store advertised definitely fooled me.

I'll be looking for a new butcher after this meat is gone especially since I had to buy a vacuum sealer for this transaction.

Everyone was polite and helpful but since there is no buy in bulk bargain like I was expecting I have to be neutral for this review.

In final I can say that they do offer a good selection but watch out for their advertisements and...

Wish I could give it a zero. Was way over charged for my items and tried to return them. when confronted about it the owner/manager got very aggressive and accused me of stealing. What I supposedly “stole” still didn’t even account for what I was overcharged for. When I went in the the boys stocking couldn’t even keep track of what was being stocked which would explain why I was overcharged in the first place. He claimed they didn’t accept returns and he was trying to be nice but he was never involved until I said I was missing money. I’ve heard from everyone they do accept returns so I guess that was a lie to. When I told him not to accuse me of anything he turned around and buffed up like he was going to hit me or something. First time here, and I will be returning!! I'm tired of the lab grown chicken and processed beef. Heard about Kites and thought, ugh, the drive. But, you know what? It's well worth it. The meats I bought were way cheaper than that of Walmart, Food Lion and Harris Teeter. Kite's has great specials on bulk meats! The atmosphere was nice and the staff was friendly. Country friendly. The kind that will strike up a conversation with you having never met you before. I loved the fact that it's old school, too! No scanners, no running boards, and no rushing a customer out the door.
